So by his '96 run with Owen he was hitting close to 700 pounds, and WWF pressured him to lose weight (Bruce Prichard speaks in-depth about it in his podcast). He ended up passing at age 34 in 2000, but I wonder - if Yoko had lost some weight, gotten healthy, how long do you think he could have gone? He'd only be 53 now, so maybe until 2011 or so? Rikishi finished up by 2004 with the E, and he's a year older, so maybe no later than that. Nevertheless, how late do you think he would've gone? Could he have gotten another heavyweight title run? Would he have worked TNA?

If Yokos weight hadn't ballooned during his World title run and afterwards? I think he would have remained in employment. He was from that family....Vince would have found something for him to do. Hell even though his weight went through the roof? Vince was still trying to help him long after he would have cut anyone else loose.
By the end? Yoko couldn't wrestle most states because of insurance & a lot of guys were legit afraid to work with him because he wasn't in full control in the ring.

I think if he would've dropped 300-400 lbs in '96/'97 following successful gastric bypass surgery, he easily would've worked until the late 2000s early 2010s

Yoko would’ve done it for The Rock instead of Kishi. He definitely would've been involved in this. I could see him coming outto officially say he isn't Japanese around 97/98 to give him an Attitude Era repackage. Could easily see him getting an early version of the "Bad Man" Rikishi character. |

I could see him going to Japan to wrestle some sumo wrestlers turned pro wrestlers over there, but I dont think he would be very popular among the Japanese fans.

He would've had to change his attire. His whole sumo look wouldn't have worked in the Attitude Era.
I do remember rumours that he was to return in 97 and join the Hart Foundation.

Reminds me of Tenta who lost a lot of weight, but like they did with him they probably would've done the same with Yoko, maybe join the Oddities but if I had the choice, the Ministry.
Or....a storyline with Ministry Taker resurrects Yoko, his greatest foe.

It's hard to see him doing anything after 1999 without a drastic gimmick change. I could easily see him in the Ministry, maybe in Viscera's place.
