Hogan showed at SummerSlam 90 why he was still the man. He made his match/feud with Quake at that event seem bigger and better than Rude vs. Warrior in the cage for the Title that followed that match.

Was there ever reason why they replaced Tugboat with Boss Man to be in Hogan's corner at SSlam? I don't recall ever reading Tugster was hurt or anything else for that matter over the years.
I remember thinking how odd it was to have Boss Man considering his past with Hogan.
And yeah Warriors run with the World Title definitely seemed like an afterthought by this point.

Never heard anything, but only thing I could maybe think for replacing Tugboat, was get more heat on Earthquake, by taking him out, as if I remember right, he got over good with the fans, and he was Hogan's buddy and big supporter. And Boss Man was still a pretty new face at the time, so maybe he got put into the mix, to give him a boost on his new face run too.

Shame Boss Man's feud with DiBiase had to end pretty much out of nowhere with no ending but this does make sense.

Was DiBiase injured then?? Because Boss Man was already set to be the special guest referee for Brown/Roberts, and Ted showed up to take Sapphire away from Dusty. I am just wondering if that's why there was no PPV match, or maybe that angle had run its course on house shows. Wrestling was so weird then, because a lot of stuff would take place on house shows that we fans didn't get to see.

Thinking about it, he might've been. Him not wrestling at SSlam is suspicious.
I always thought the feud with Boss Man should've ended on that SNME in July that year.

If they wanted to really make Warrior "the guy," he should have been the one to feud with Quake.

I used to think Earthquake's Vertical Splash was as fatal as a gunshot and that he really did put Hogan out of action, but Hogan was actually filming Suburban Commando.

Gorilla sold this well on the episode of PTW I just watched(5-28-90 to be exact). He acts all concerned and is pretty much distracted the rest of the episode.
Heenan is gold as usual. When Gorilla ask where Jesse Ventura was during the attack(Vince helped but he didn't) Heenan is like ''he was getting one of those hot pretzels at the concession stands'' LOL

With them plugging the address to death on WWF TV during this time, Did any of you humanoids write a get well letter to the Hulkster?

Really never dug Warrior. I would of dug seeing a ''Macho King'', Rick Rude, or like Mr. Perfect any of those guys stuffed between 90 and 91.

This feud was the only show in town in Summer 1990 & actually for the remainder of 1990. If Vince truly believed that Hellwig was his "new guy"? Warrior would have been booked to be the one to come to Hogan's side as he was stretchered away....then swear vengeance on Earthquake & Hart. In between feed Earthquake guys by the new time and have the Hart family beat down UW a couple of times....then by Summerslam 1990? You have one RED HOT feud.
But Hulk was still the guy....& he was given THE hot new heel to feud with. As a kid I was wondering where the hell Beefcake was and who the hell was this sailor honk speaking up for Hogan? Brutus had been Hogan's pal as far as I was concerned & I couldn't understand this AT ALL LOL.
But Little did I know Beefer had been horrifically injured himself.

LOL I remember writing Hogan a "Get well" card since the WWF had an address where you can send them. I didn't wish him well but told him basically that's what happens when you mess with Earthquake. About 8 weeks later the WWF sent me a Hulk Hogan "Friendship bracelet" . Wish I knew where it is. I know I have it in a bin somewhere. it looked like this: www.etsy.com/il-en/listing/497310496/1989-wwf-hulkamania-bracelet-new-summer?show_sold_out_detail=1

I kind of agree that Warrior should have been pushed in this feud rescuing Hogan and have Hogan disappear for a while. Sometimes its hard to get over the new top guy when the previous top guy is still around and still very popular. Though, I wonder if they wanted Warrior's first big title defense (at a PPV) to be a clear cut win and maybe they didn't want to give Earthquake a clear cut loss in the middle of his push. I think had Warrior/Earthquake happened at SSL90, Warrior probably would have needed a clean win over Quake to validate his title reign - which wouldn't have done anything for Quake. I think what might have hurt Warrior's reign a little bit was the WWF not really having an opponent for Warrior after Rude. He faced a few different opponents but none were big time feuds until he went up against Savage starting around the Survivor Series.

Hogan showed at SummerSlam 90 why he was still upset he lost to warrior at wrestlemania. He made sure his next match/feud with Quake at that event seem bigger and better than Warrior’s match and title. Fixed it for you. Seriously warrior should of been fed a monster like earthquake not a guy he already beat 2 weeks earlier on tv and year earlier at same event. John Tenta even made his debut crushing warriors back and would of made an easy storyline tie in.

That Rude and Warrior match was epic other than it having the wrong ending. I was so mad at Rude when he turned around at the top of the cage to attack Warrior. He should have gone over Warrior and lost the belt back to Warrior at Survivor Series
