I recently got these figures in the mail, and was messing around with my camera, so thought I'd share a handful of reviews.
1. NECA Sin City Yellow Bastard vs. Hartigan 2 Pack
Price- 40$ Delivered(Purchased in a lot along with the two Bloody Miho Exclusives that you will be seeing later.)
Purchased from- www.spawn.com forums
Packaging- Window Box
Scale: 7"
Accessories: Revolver, Auto-9 Pistol, Pistol, lead pipe
Yellow Bastard:
This is the third "Yellow Bastard" action figure released by NECA in the Sin City line, and just happens to be my favorite of the trio.
Sculpt: This figure features Nick Stahl as his Yellow Bastard character based on the clothed attire he is wearing when we first see him as opposed to the nearly nude Yellow Bastard figures in the first Sin City series featuring Roark Jr. in only a pair of pinstriped shorts. What is most noticable about this figure is the textures on the Jacket and pants, which make for some nice detail. The head sculpt while similar, is not identical to the serious faced Yellow Bastard in series 1, unless the paint application just makes it seem that way. I noticed some differences around the mouth area.
Paint application: There isn't much to mess up as it is basically black on yellow, however the colors do contrast well and look nice.
Articulation: Yellow Bastard features 10 points of articulation. He is cut at the elbows, wrists, waist, and ankles, and features ball joints in his shoulders and neck.
General: As I said before, this is my favorite Yellow Bastard figure of the three, and I own them all to judge it fairly. The only negative aspect about the figure is the fact that he is hard to stand, as I had to swipe a clear stand from a Nancy figure just to get him to stop falling down. If you don't already own a Hartigan figure, the two pack is worth the 18-22$ price tag, but should you already own Hartigan as I did, you may want to go cheaper.
Sculpt: 10/10
Paint Application: 9.5/10
Articulation: 2/10
Overall: 9.2/10(not an average)
Hartigan:
This is also the third Hartigan figure NECA has released, discounting the 18 incher. However, aside from the added weapon, he is the same figure as the single black and white release from series 1.
Sculpt: The sculpt is the same solid Hartigan sculpt from Sin City series 1, so I feel no need to go into a long detailed review.
Paint Application: Like the sculpt, it is the same black and white paint application from series 1. However, and it may just be my figure, I did notice that the box set version has a darker, and cleaner looking paint application from my Series 1 figure.
Articulation: Again, same as the single packed figure, 8 points of articulation: Ball jointed neck and shoulders, cuts at the elbows, wrists and waist.
General:If you are thinking of getting into Sin City figures, start here as you will get both Hartigan and Yellow Bastard in his nicest looking form. I didn't have to double up on Hartigan, but a nice price made it possible for me to do so with no regrets.
Sculpt: 8/10
Paint Application: 9/10
Articulation: 1.5/10
Overall: 7.8/10(not an average)
2. Bloody Miho Exclusives(Black and White/Color Versions)
Price- 40$ Delivered(Purchased in a lot along with the Yellow Bastard/Hartigan Two Pack)
Purchased from- www.spawn.com forums
Packaging- Basic Clamshell
Scale: 7"
Accessories: Two Swords, two sheaths, bow, two arrows, clear stand(per figure)
These Bloody Miho figures are the same as the series 2 Miho figures, but with a bloody variation to the paint application. They were exlcusives to The Falcon's Hangar(www.tfhsg.com) which is NECA's official Asian distributor. I put off getting these for a while, but the price was right to finally nab them.
Sculpt: The Miho figures from the Sin City line probably have the nicest sculpt. There is a lot of detail down to the earrings and the folds in her robe, and the facial sculpt is just incredibly accurate.
Paint Application: The paint applications on this particular figure is also top notch on both the Color and black and white variations. The black and white version really contrasts with the blood, making it stand out nicely, while the color figure really has some nice colors going on including the blue on her outfit which really stands out. The silverish accents on the black and white version really make the figure.
Articulation: Like most of the Sin City figures, she isn't articulated much, featuring 8 P.O.A. at the neck(ball), and cuts at the shoulders, wrists, waist, and upper ankles.
General: The downfall of the Miho figure is the fact that she is the biggest bitch in the world to stand. Even with the plastic base NECA gives you, the figure is too top heavy, and the ankles are too flimsy to support it. It does not prevent me from buying a top notch figure, but it is quite annoying none the less.
Sculpt: 10/10
Paint Application: 10/10
Articulation: 1/10
Overall: 9.5/10(not an average)
These will more or less be images, not so much reviews as I am not too familiar with the characters, I got them to simply complete my collection for now.
