I just opened a CS Repo Man and the figure was super greasy. Figure was brand new and never opened.
I was wondering how something like that happens to a moc figure?
Anyone else experience this?

Jakks are notorious for getting an oily residue on them over time. The rubber coats/jackets are the worst. Just give them a good fig bath and you're good to go

I already gave him a fig bath so he's fine now but it was weird. I did a video so it kinda threw me off lol.

Yup. All my Demolition and LOD figures have that greasy film on them. It makes thinks awkward especially with the Demo figs all dressed in faux leather/spiked chaps and face masks.

Is it an issue with just the on card figures. Or is it and widespread issue?

I had a ton of loose RA and CS in storage. Dug them out recently, and Repo Man’s coat was really bad. Maybe a good wash and a coat of sealer will help.

The Nasty Boys figures were always like that, the Classic Series 14 ones. At least anytime I've owned them and even going back to childhood I remember hating the feeling of those damn jackets.

I discovered one of my Buffy figures has dry rotted since I had it In storage.
Beyond gross.
But I don't think I've ever had a figure with greasy film on it. I have several RA figures, and never noticed it.
Although, that said, I would love instructions on how to give a fig bath.

I did a video on removing the sticky residue. Packing tape seems to counteract it

I heard and since experienced this same issue with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from the early 90s and Star Wars Phantom Menace figures from 1999.
It does definitely seem to be a combination of: type of plastic, lack of air and age to the figures that causes it.

I believe it is the plastic breaking down. I Have this issue as well with TMNT figures. It has to do with part of the plastic vaporizing and staying in the sealed cards, causing the sticky feel.
