How do you think history would change if Steve Austin debuted in the WWF as "The Ringmaster" Steve Austin instead of just The Ringmaster? I think The Ringmaster sounds cool as a nickname. Maybe some awesome technical wrestler should use it now.

I don’t think it would have worked because he wasn’t feeling the gimmick I don’t think adding his name would have changed it.

The Ringmaster name would be most suited best as a tag partner to Doink the Clown. When I hear the word "Ringmaster" I think circus.

Actually, Gary Hart said in his book that he was approached by the WWF to be Doink's manager. They wanted him to have the Ringmaster gimmick with the red tail coat, top hat, monocle & poofy pants. He was eventually going to have different circus performers in his stable (tumbler, fire eater, fat lady, strong man, etc.), but he declined.

Man to go from the greatness of his runs in WCCW/Crockett to THAT...*shudders* all I can say is thank God he declined

Really in one of those, only in pro wrestling, stories, one of the biggest names in history, can link part of his success to tea and a real life mafia hit man.

Wouldn't have made any difference I reckon. The creation of the Stone Cold character & persona was a wonderful series of coincidences and factors outside his control (curtain call etc).
I'm thankful every day that these things occurred....

While the handle "Steve Austin" worked for Stone Cold and for The Six Million Dollar Man, I do not think that it is a powerful enough name to same The Ringmaster. Nothing saves The Ringmaster.
