Back in the old days in the 80s especially, there were plenty of Managers (and many around at the same time) around during that decade like the Grand Wizard, Blassie, Heenan, Hart, Slick, Sherri, Liz, Lou Albano etc etc In the 90s it was more limited, and eventually it became more diminished. While eventually the WWE did have managers around like Vickie and Heyman, it just wasn't the same.
Do you think AEW will be the place of managers like in the 80s? I mean we have Arn/Brandi for Cody, Mardlow (also a performer) for MJF, Tully for Spears etc (can I get a list if you know them all?)
Now we see Jake Roberts who mentioned last night about a "client" who is most likely Lance Archer, so it's possible he's going to be a manager now. It kinda feels like the 80s where former performers become managers...your thoughts?

I think they already are. I've always been a huge fan of managers. They create so many added opportunities for nuanced performances during matches and storylines.
And the rub goes both ways. AEW is a brand new company with no history, no tape library, no anything. They don't even have the rights to footage from their first event. So being able to bring in some all-time greats immediately gives them some lineage, even in a roundabout way.
And perhaps most importantly, it gives their product a unique look and feel that is *completely* different from anything WWE is doing.

I definitely think so. Cody seems to like the old school ways of things. Impact used to be the place for managers. They had Gama Singh, Konnan, Eddie Kingston, John E. Bravo, James Mitchell, Katie Forbes. Their manager roster used to be stacked. It really hurt with them losing Konnan & Kingston though.

Imagine if AEW can get Flair to be someones manager... No thank you. AEW needs to stay away from that crazy ass drunk. Would never happen though, because he's riding his son's coattail.

Guys like Jake Roberts and Arn Anderson can't move. I thought they were going to have to call a paramedic when Anderson took his bump at the PPV. Roberts could barely get through the ropes on Wednesday.
They're definitely trying to bring the manager role back, but I think they should be a little more weary of who they're going with.
