Tony’s going to have a hard time turning fans on Hangman. He’s so over.
I don't think they're turning him at all. Very much a shades of Grey story. They talked a lot about those more less defined lines between heels and faces at launch time, I think this is our first real example of what that looks like
Gah. That match was really good and I liked all the setups from the ending, but the mystery partner swerve really frustrated me. I get it, and I'm sure we'll get an explanation, but man, took the wind right out of my sails, and Hangman is my favorite guy in the company
I didn't like Dr. Baker's promo tonight. It sounded too scripted or practised. She didn't seem to acknowledge the crowd's reactions and throw any ad-lib back at them. She just kept talking.
Thinking more, the attack on Nick might actually setup the mystery partner to be in blood and guts replacing him. (or it could just be Dustin, who knows).

I interpreted it differently. I thought she was just going for the whole oblivious to the crowd hating her thing. (And come on, we've all met someone like that)

I 100% agree, but I’m really interested to see what the payoff is going to be

I've changed my guess a lot, but if I had to pick today, I'd say we're heading for a super reunion of the elite. I would've answered differently two days ago, and will probably answer differently again after next week's show

Isn't it a breath of fresh air that a company's plans aren't so transparent?
Cody & ortiz was pretty good. I always enjoy a ortiz match, claws, planks, afros, "the best" chants, whats not to like?
Lance archer being jake the snakes client wasn't really a surprise but no complaints from me. If I was AEW though I wouldn't of announced his signing before this episode.
I still am going to complain that there are way too many tag matches on the card, are they trying to be a Japanese wrestling company? I get it if they are trying to be different from WWE or whatever but basically the whole card was tag matches...I want more singles matches even if the main event continue to be tag matches. Tag matches get to be boring to me after awhile.
The womens tag was kinda lack luster as usual but the ending was pretty good and unexpecting. Bea seems a lot better than the last time I seen her. I think she could have a great run with the belt and could be another great heel.
Christopher Daniels promo was GOLD! loved it but it really didn't make sense when he challenged uno & stu to see if the exalted one would actually show and then later on in the night they just announce "oh he is showing up next week"? wtf?
Jurassic express vs mjf & BBB was good. I think that could be a great feud. I know Luchasaurus is over as hell and I love the guy too but I don't really see him being as agile as people make him out to be. I really would like to see more singles matches with him to showcase what he can do.
Britts promos with tony has ran its course, these are turning into wash, rinse, repeat and they really don't do that much for me anymore. I already hate her and its pretty clear she is already a heel. She should be attacking women in back or something or going in the ring by herself and cutting a promo like MJF does. Her promos are pretty lame and fake, kinda like her. I'm not a big swole fan but it was pretty awesome when she said "i'm married baybay" haha I popped for that.
Darby's promos are kinda cool but they are so random, I know he's still after sammy but I need more story telling in this.
I fast forward through death triangle, although I popped when joey did the Zandig pose haha death triangle is just so random. Pac was doing so well as a singles competitor and should of started chasing moxly. I see this death triangle thing becoming boring really fast. Again just another faction AEW doesn't need, they have like 20 now...
I really like dustin rhodes, he can cut a nice promo, is very intense and believable and love his move set. Always puts on a great match. The main even tag was actually pretty good, the synced flips and the finish. Although did dustin get knocked out for a second? Did anyone notice that weird pin where the ref hit dustins leg to kick him out?

I haven't finished the ep yet, but for those that have, what would you give the quote of the night award to (either commentary or otherwise) and sign of the night award to?

I can see Omega vs. Page down the road for the title, that's probably the end game of the story

If this is the same spot I'm thinking of I think there was supposed to be a pin breakup that got botched so the ref had to get Dustin kicking out instead.

That's what I was thinking, it just looked like the pin wasn't broken up.

It was an okay episode. I'm happy to see Butcher/Blade get a win. I would have used MJF in a bigger role after beating Cody. He's not on the first show, then is in this six-man tag. I would have given him a big in-ring promo or something. Nothing fantastic but nothing horrible either.

Ignoring someone is definitely annoying, but insulting and attacking them will usually ignite a bigger flame.
A few years back on the Raw after CM Punk's UFC debut/fail, Stephanie was in the ring. The crowd (as they did hardcore back then) were chanting "CM Punk" while she was trying to talk. She responded with, "keep that up for another minute and you'll last longer than Punk did on Saturday."
The crowd exploded. It was a brilliant response aimed directly at what they were chanting. Fans want to be apart of the show. They want the wrestlers to acknowledge them, and when they do the people love it. A good guy will get a pop and the bad guys get major heat. It sounded like that crowd was begging for Baker's attention. She still got a solid reaction, but I think she missed an opportunity for a better one.
