I never liked WrestleMania XII. I just didn't care for the 60 plus minutes of HBK vs. Bret - which is crazy since both men are so important to me in loving the New Generation era. But I found the match to be very boring. Even to this day I find myself being bored watching that Iron Man match. So with that being said.....
Let's say Bret vs. HBK happened still but it was an ordinary match. Goes 20 or 25 minutes. That leaves an additional 30 minutes.
What matches would you add to the show?? Would guys like Tatanka, 123 Kid, and others be added to the event??
Would you want to change around certain matches?? What if Razor Ramon had remained clean at that time and was on the card against Goldust??
How would you make WrestleMania XII a better PPV than what we got??

The roster had the time was so horrible, WWF really had to have a 60 minute match to make up for time. Bob Holly, Aldo Montoya, Kid, Tatanka, Bushwhackers, Duke Droese, Isaac Yankem, Fatu, Hakushi and Barry Horowitz were about it left to make up a csrd.

One thing I would've changed is instead of the 6 man tag, have Yoko/Vader and Bulldog/Owen vs Ahmed/Jake in 2 separate matches.

i like this brain:
Yoko/Vader and Bulldog/Owen vs Ahmed/Jake in 2 separate matches
have main event be either a reg match or have a bunch of falls like 3 to 4 at the end
maybe add 123 kid vs hakushi for a wild high flyin match
austin vs holly or tatanka instead
a legends battle royal

I didn't mind the 60 minute iron man match, I think if they were to re-book the event I would just have more falls during the bout to maybe add a little more excitement to it. I agree with jason1980s, the roster at that time was very thin and I don't think what they had left would have helped the event. If they did shorten the match to 30 minutes, I think a Vader/Yoko individual match would have been good, leaving a second match of Owen & Davey vs. Jake & Ahmed. Other than that, there wasn't a whole lot left for them to do. If they could have convinced Warrior, maybe letting the Warrior/HHH match go 10 minutes instead of the 2 minutes it did would have helped with the extra time given from shortening the Hart/Michaels match.

I really enjoyed the match they had at SSlam 95.

I say this every time the Iron Man match is brought up as being boring. And that is I loved the match except for the ending. If wrestling was real then Bret had fulfilled his contract and wouldn’t/shouldn’t have had to go into “sudden death” so Gorilla coming out and forcing him to get back in the ring made no sense. But the first 60 minutes was pure poetry in motion. They had me invested. And to me it moved faster than these 30 minute iron man matches.

The Iron Man match isn't one of my favorite matches either. I liked it when Tatanka was a good guy.

I would keep the Bodydonnas vs Godwinns match because WWF was low on tag teams, though I would not make it a title match. I would keep Piper vs Goldust because it's so weird and nearly perfect. I would keep Austin vs Vega but I would move the strap match stipulation earlier in the chronology so that it takes place at Wrestlemania. Evangelical Jake Roberts would take offence to the violence and hedonism of a strap match and become the referee in order to allow Austin to transition into him down the road. I would keep Ultimate Warrior vs Hemsley because Tri. I would keep Hart vs Michaels because it was the best possible matchup WWF could offer, but I would remove the iron man stipulation. I might make it a best 2 out of 3 falls match as it would speed things up and was a match type not so common in WWF at the time. I'm thinking that it would be 45 minutes long or so. One of my goals would be to start building Vader up as a credible title contender for Michaels and an eventual world champion down the road. Unfortunately Hall was suspended and not available. Putting Vader in a six man tag doesn't work for me though. I would give Vader Diesel and have him go over very convincingly in a relatively short, 8ish minute match. Vader was still coming off surgery at the time but was capable of wrestling, and Diesel was leaving anyway, so this is an easy way to give Vader a good rub. Undertaker is now without an opponent. I would like to use Jarrett here, but he was having contractual issues with WWF at the time. If he could somehow be coaxed with a one time payoff that would be great, but otherwise it's Ahmed Johnson's turn to get tombstoned. I would have Hart and Bulldog face off against the Smoking Gunns, with the winning team going on to face the winner of the Bodydonnas vs Godwinns match in the penultimate match of the show for the vacant WWF tag team titles. So something like this: Bodydonnas vs Godwinns Piper vs Goldust in Hollywood Backlot Brawl Hart and Bulldog vs Smoking Gunns Ultimate Warrior vs Tri Undertaker vs Ahmed Johnson Austin vs Vega in Strap Match with Jake Roberts as referee Winner of Tag Match 1 vs Winner of Tag Match 2 Hart vs Michaels in best 2 our of 3 falls

You'd think that Vader making a name for himself outside of WWF would be a plus, but in Vince's mind it was probably a negative.

Vader would've been better off being Super Invader than Big Van Vader. Mean Mark and Vinnie Vegas agree.

Vince seemed to be big on him at first, he was getting a huge push all the way up to Summer Slam 1996, he was even going to get the WWF Title. But then Shawn bad mouthed him to Vince and down the card Vader slid.

I loved WM12 apart from how long Bret vs Shawn went. I'd give them 30 minutes and throw Razor vs. the 123 Kid on.
MAYBE I'd split up the 6 man tag, and do Yoko vs. Vader, Jake vs. Jerry Lawler (they built this up perfectly with what happened at the Rumble), and have Owen/Bulldog vs the Smoking Gunns.
