I love the gimmick, the skater English punk. The half face paint effect is really cool, and how it correlates with a cool and unique finisher in The Coffin Drop. Love coming down the ramp with the skateboard and incorporating moves from it. Everything built around this character is could get over huge.
The issue for me is Darby Allin is so small. He’s not tall, not built like someone like PAC. He’s like a kid out there, there’s no believability to him. They have done a lot to put him over, but he’s the same size as Orange Cassidy.

If Spike Dudley could beat up and beat big guys, so can Darby Allin, especially when you can take his unconventional offense into account. I have no problem with his size.

Rey Mysterio is also small and he has been a world champion. I think he has a Jeff Hardy or Sting quality to him. Sure, not the best on the mic, but the charisma when he's out there in the ring cannot be questioned. I have no doubt that Darby Allin will be a world champion in AEW in the next 5 years.

Some guys can get away with lack of size because they make up for it with character.
Guys like Adam Cole, Marty Scurll. Small guys, but they can talk and have interesting characters.
I'm a big fan of Darby and I stop everything when he is on tv

I think they've booked him really well so far. He shouldn't be a world beater, he needs to put his body on the line to compete with bigger guys. I can see why you feel that way though, not saying you're wrong or shouldn't feel that way.
He's a building block for this promotion and I hope they make him chase the AEW championship for a long time.

Spike never was a serious mid-card or main event talent. He was a niche. Rey was good, but really got over in WWE and drawing money after he bulked up a little. Darby is just so small and skinny. He could do well to bulk up a little.

Adam Cole isn't exactly turning heads with his physique either, and he's NXT champion.

He could do well to bulk up a little. Rey had already been in the spotlight in WCW for years. He had a huge latino following. He had a unique move set, especially when applied to bigger guys. The only thing that would have held him back in WWE was Vince. He was a guaranteed star. Darby Allin had zero of that fanfare going into AEW, but like Rey he's got a move set that would "throw off" bigger guys. He's got a crazy character who enjoys pain. Him getting a successful push can make sense. Spike had no style. He went in and beat the crapout of his opponent and got the crapbeat out of him with weapons. If he went in and beat Bautista in a mat wrestling classic it would be stupid. If he chaired, garbage canned, and tabled Bautista into a pinfall it would work. If that character was given a push people would have loved him more than they already did. Now Marko Stunt on the other hand shouldn't be beating anyone big or getting a push. I don't mind if he gets some offense because he's quick and agile, but he has nothing overall compared to the other 3.

I think that AEW is trying to set a new standard within wrestling in regards to size and allow more of a focus on what competitors bring to the ring in other ways than what their height and weight is.
lucha underground did it convincingly with Evalece. ECW pulled off Spike as others said. WCW has Rey.
I mean, they regard Jack Hager as a monster in AEW. which he totally is in comparison to the average human being.

I like everything about Darby except his long black tights/short jeans attire.
Great paint, awesome ink in a world where guys have full sleeves or logos on their necks, Darby stands out. Oozes charisma, and is a future top star. I love his offense, it's so damn fast and unconventional. I'd love to see him an Vikingo go!
But yeah his attire looks bush league.

Here's my unpopular opinion.
I'm not a fan, i don't get him... At all. Which is odd considering i tend to like these sort of 'Darker' characters.
I don't like his theme song. The half face paint doesn't do it for me. I hate his attire, i think the Black tights with little denim short shorts looks terrible. I'm not a fan of the whole Skateboard thing.
He's talented in the ring, and the Coffin Drop is a unique finisher... But i just can not get behind him. Am i missing something? Maybe one day he might grown on me and i'll become a fan. But right now, i just don't get him.

His attire might be slightly silly, but otherwise I think he’s great. I hope there’s big things in his future. Also, I really dig his theme.

He'll be great once he hits puberty. HA! I do like his gimmick though, and I like the reasoning behind the paint and whatnot. AEW really should have a cruiserweight division since most of their roster are really small. Keep him fighting there and only have him fight bigger opponents once in a while.

I can't take him seriously when he's wrestling in them shorts, plus he's skinny compared to alot of the roster, i've got nothing against the guy i just have no interest in watching him.. but hey, if it means Priscilla Kelly might show up more often in AEW with him in the company then that's a plus in my book.

I have a feeling if he keeps losing, he may have the mental break and be like Crazy Steve esque. That will be an interesting angle.

English? I don't understand what you mean there.
I think he's excellent. He's this generation's Jeff Hardy.

Again I like a lot about his character and everything, to me he is just doesn’t have it physically. Maybe if he put a little bulk on it would even it out.

I don't mind him at all. I think we're all just expecting too much too soon from all of AEW. And I think they are trying way too hard. A guy like Darby takes a while to really come into his own and get the fan base. We want AEW to be WWE now, and that's just not possible. They have a long time to go to develop themselves as what they are. They're rushing everything and it shows. A guy like Darby would be WAY over in WWE had he been brought up over time and groomed. Eventually AEW will be the best product out there, but for now ... slow down!

I doubt he weighs 150 pounds and that at a definite disadvantage. He can wrestle, but the coffin drop, as nice as it looks, is not going to to do anything to anyone. All the opponent has to do is take a step to the side and he lands on his back.
