He is one guy that I’m sure gets paid well, and I don’t necessarily think anyone would be clamoring to see the guy on the indies or impact. He seems like a guy destined to work there forever and then transition to the PC.

He didn't do much after his failed IC title reign.

He didn't do much after his failed IC title reign. He did a decent job of playing henchmen/worker in tags for years. That really was the guys role.

I honestly do think he could be good for Impact Wrestling. Give him a proper-serious gimmick. Not a complete Mr. Perfect ripoff, just acknowledge his family legacy.

he needs a singlet like his Dad, not to be a rip-off but just to be a little more serious - stick him in NWA and let him have some classics with Aldis.

Why in the world did they never let him use his real last name and try to actually push the guy? I'm still blown away by that level of narcissism & stupidity.

Reckon his contract ran out and WWE decided not to renew it?

Surprised he lasted this long. If it wasn't for his last name he would never have been signed, he was pretty bad.

Someone said on a podcast somewhere they were worried he couldn’t live up to the last name, they thought there are some guys who can work with the name and some that it will hinder.

I know when someone gets released we're supposed to say "they deserved more" or "he'll be better in ___". But honestly, I think he's a good worker, but just doesn't have the personality to become a household name. His best work was when he was with someone who did have that personality. Heyman, Sandow, & Dallas for example.
I could see him maybe having a wrestling school if he wanted to. Guess he's done good work with training in the past.

That sucks... I liked Axel and thought he could have done really well if he continued to be booked right. He was good in the ring, had one of the best dropkicks in WWE & a nice, clean spinout neckbreaker. Personality was his only real struggle...
His 2013 repackage as Axel was cool. I liked the name, the theme, then Aura around him, and the fact he was with Heyman. It's a shame he fell off the momentum. If his charisma was an issue, he definitely could have benefited from working down at the PC for a while, improving that, then returning as a new & improved Axel.
He was NEVER going to be as big as Mr. Perfect, but he could have filled those shoes of a successful 3rd Generation star. If there's anything he can take from his run, he can say that he did win the IC Title to a huge ovation, and followed in his Dad's footsteps.
As for where he could go now, i think NWA would be 'perfect' for him. An old school presentation to tie into his family heritage, the smaller (old school) crowd would take him seriously and not dismiss him as a joke, and it's a lighter schedule. Other than that, maybe IMPACT could work for him. Either way, hope he finds somewhere to show off his skill again.
Also, just looked him up and realised he's 40... He's older than Daniel Bryan, Miz & Dolph Ziggler. He's only 2 years younger than Brock Lesnar... That's me surprised for today.

Good. Now he can use the name he’s always wanted to use somewhere- Joe Henning.

First off, IMO, shoulda happened years ago. They were barely anything with him. Now, I think he'd be perfect for the NWA when they come back and running
