In this video pixel dan gives a good overview in the first couple of minutes why Leo toys (aka Leo mattel) released motu figures in India rather than under just mattel
I wonder if this is why Hasbro didn't release figures in India and Funskool did?
Also the info re. Not being able to import materials from china (hence slight, or sometimes extreme) colour variations similar to what we see in funskool is interesting.

Yep that’s the reason why funskool operated under the ‘hasbro ‘ licence . Also if same materials were used the price of figures at retail in India would have to be equivalent to same as that in US/Uk . - £5 figure in India back then (1993/94) would not have sold hence why the prices were cheaper to appeal to affordability for parents .
