Does anyone feel like his release was a work?
It’s starting to feel like he may win the CW championship and get “reinstated” for an ultra feel good moment

Unfortunately, I think his release was real. While it sucks, he wasn't really doing much at the moment so I get it.
I think it was nice that they let him finish the CW tournament. And IMO they had no choice but to acknowledge his release. If they didn't, people would be crying that they weren't addressing it.
I'm hoping he does win the title, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I do however expect him to be rehired once the dust settles. Triple H is supposedly a fan and Drake is doing great work in NXT.

He should probably get an Oscar for his Twitter post after his release if it was a work. That thing hurt!
I reckon it's all real, he will end up released and he's just making the most of his last few matches (as WWE are by milking it in kayfabe).

I can honestly see him winning. And then they rehire him a week later. It'll be like CM Punk Lite. He'll blow a kiss at Triple H while hopping the barricade.
I don't think it's a work. I think it was legit until he posted that video thats what saved him, showing true passion for the business. Now they're turning it into a storyline with the feel good big win and rehiring.

He needs to beat Kushida next. I just can't see that happening, nor do I think it should tbh.

I'd say it was real, i doubt WWE would work a release amongst all of these actual releases.
The response for his video probably made them reconsider it and offer him to came back/stay.
Either that, or his release was real & due to the response to the video, he's pitched they could work it for the remainder of his dates, or for the full 90 days.

His release was 100% legit, because only WWE would fire someone taking part in a tourney they just set up. And he definitely will get rehired so WWE can get some good PR after Drake's video.
If I were booking this, I wouldn't even have Maverick win the thing. He makes it to the Finals, he has an amazing match but loses with a rollup. The new champ allows Drake his curtain call, then out comes Regal to reinstate him.

Weren't all those matches taped days after Wrestlemania anyhow again?? If so, they are just showing the matches he was in still because they kind of have to do so.
