That was embarrassing. Like, hope no one walks in the room and makes fun of you for what you’re watching bad. What was? The whole show or just the ending? Other than the Arn/Jake segment the show wasn’t that great, but I wouldn’t say it was dreadful. 5/10 I’d give it.

This promotion set the bar really high, and right now they’re below it.

Certainly not a show you would hope to showcase to sell your PPV, and that's leaving out the parts where you almost killed people on the card this Saturday.
Liked the Buck's attire tonight though.

I'm not anti brawls but when you do them too much, there is no novelty to them. It doesn't feel like all hell is breaking loose when it happens frequently.

One thing I’ll say, is this main event feud has been very cartoony since Matt Hardy came aboard and I am a fan of the broken Matt character but also don’t think it’s a main event character and I don’t think your top angle should be this cartoony. Especially after all the hard work Jericho did to build up his character as dangerous. I don’t care what Jericho thinks or says in public it’s absolutely done damage to the evil Jericho character that dominated the first 8 months of dynamite. After the ppv hopefully Matt drops down the card a bit.

Some of them are excellent and some feel like they should be on AEW Dark.

So why didn't Matt Hardy just teleport to the field to save Kenny?? 😉

Can we safely say that months of no fan base to feed off of that AEW and NXT have no idea what direction to point the arrow?
What is the long term if no crowd shows continue?

I absolutely hate it. Watching at home with no crowd is like watching wrestling live with no announcers. It's ass backwards.

I thought it was a pretty good show overall. Some rough botches, and gutted for Britt though. That looked really nasty. Fenix I expect will bounce back like he always does, seen him take way worse bumps, for as nasty as I'm sure that one felt.
I didn't really like the Arn/Jake segment, because it became about them, and not Cody/Lance. So unless that plays into the story later could've done without it. That match is gonna be so good, and that promo really took me away from what's been the match I'm most looking forward to.
Not a huge Matt Hardy person in general, but no real issue with Sammy eating a pin there. He still needs the Inner Circle advantage, and it's all to build for the stampede match anyways. I actually liked this brawl more than most of theirs. It felt like too many back in early Dynamite episodes where it felt like every episode they brawled. With the Bucks & Page gone for a while, it actually felt fresh this time. Plus watching hangman run down the entire bloody field to absolutely clobber Hager with a clothesline was freaking hilarious. My only point of confusing is how they're going to keep managing the elite dynamics and further those stories without sewering the Blood & Guts match whenever that opportunity does prevent itself.
I dunno, I enjoyed tonight. Orange Cassidy vs. Fenix was absolute fire, and it's been super fun watching Cassidy slowly transform himself and try more and more.

With no live gate, AEW is cranking out all these hideous T shirts on ShopAEW. They are becoming a T shirt company that holds weekly wrestling matches.

Last night wasn't...good. Not a "go-home" show for a PPV you're asking people to shell out $50 for anyways.
I feel so sorry for Britt and that awkward knee placement when Nyla landed on her; I just hope she sprained her knee and it isn't obliterated. Either they pull Statlander vs Baker this Saturday or make the women's title a three-way. Either way it sucks for Britt who has really been improving.
If Rey didn't get legit hurt last night, the move was almost comical. His hang-time was insane and then he landed splat. I also hope he's okay. Orange Cassidy is a sleeper star in AEW. His character is on slow-burn and I love it. He's showing bits of his 16-year veteran status each time he's out. Did you see his chest? Those red paw marks on his pecks looked brutal.
As a long-time wrestling fan, I can't tell you what a dream it was to finally see Jake and Arn in a ring doing a promo. Arguably two of the greatest wrestling minds from WWF & NWA and their segment was...okay. Because they are legends I will give them a pass, they deserve that right. I was hoping for some memorable lines but neither really delivered and it seemed to ramble a bit. For a go-home show I would have done Arn vs Jake promo last week and Cody vs Lance brawl this week to be honest. Just seems out-of-sequence.
This whole Elite vs Inner Circle has become a farce. Broken Matt Hardy sticks out like a sore thumb. I would have been fine with serious Matt Hardy, but this idiotic gimmick has run its course and making everyone look like fools.
Why is AEW not capitalizing on Hangman scarfs for COVID?

So OC vs Fenix was a great match. I'm no OC fan either but damn dude was trained well and has really perfected his in-ring work. Wasn't he an Ant from Chikara? The post match, holy-indyrific-crap. Dangerous! I don't think that tease was in vain, I see OC actually winning the match. Him or Darby, but I think they wait on Darby having a title opportunity. Sadly, OC winning a title shot in a ladder match deserves to get a pop from a crowd, it won't get. The AEW fans that like OC would go nuts for him winning. Holy smokes. I didn't realize he was Fire Ant?!?! The Colony was super cool and could go. Man, the dude can switch gimmicks and live em for sure...I vote OC for the best actor at the Oscars this year!

They need to film as many matches and segments with The Young Bucks and Hangman as possible before they go back home. AEW is in a real bad place is we don't get anything from them for another prolonged period. Dynamite is drastically better with those three on it, and their absence has largely been why Dynamite has fallen flat for me the last 2 months.
I'm willing to give AEW the benefit of doubt because of the pandemic. Tony had to scrap his long term booking for the PPV and book on the fly. That explains why the build has been so short and sudden. It's not a good build for a $50 PPV, but it's better than nothing I guess.
The real sign is what AEW has planned for the next cycle of shows and the next PPV. I need less of jobbers (most have been great, not knocking them) and more matches with actual meaning.

Preliminary njury report from last night's show:
Fenix banged up his hip on the missed dive to the floor, but he is expected to work Saturday.
Matt Jackson may have injured a rib on a dive he took during the stadium brawl. I'd assume he still works as well, as the aspect of the match can be utilized to cover up any of his limitations.
Britt Baker, on the other hand, is feared to have suffered a significant knee injury during the tag match. The extent has yet to be determined, but I personally would chalk up her grudge match against Statlander as "doubtful" right now.

I think you'd have to actually rip a limb off Fenix to keep him off a show. I legitimately am terrified of what would happen if you gave him 30 minutes in a singles match with Naito or Ibushi. God help us all if they had a triple threat.
Hopefully Matt isn't too banged up, they don't really have any reserves having put Dustin in the Spears match. They could use QT or maybe Cutler if he's around, but that would be very far from ideal.
Listening to Britt's episode of the podcast right now. Really neat so far. Talking about how nervous she was in the ring post-concussion has me curious to watch back some of her matches that got criticized after that and see if it sticks out looking for the hesitation now. Hope the knee isn't too serious, rotten luck in terms of injuries this year for her.

Jesus could you imagine plucking down $50 and in the main event the replacement for a member of the elite is Qt Marshall or Brandon Cutler? Woof! That’s Savio Vega at No Way Out all over again!

Does it feel strange to anyone that AEW is casually having a match in an NFL stadium? Maybe I’m just used to WWE making such a big deal about everything they do, but it’s just like “oh yeah, the match is in the stadium.” Not that it’s a bad thing, just an observation.
