I am bothered that I missed Gorilla Monsoon. Was he a store exclusive? When was he released and what series was he in (who else was in the series)? Was he intentionally short packed or chase
Sometimes these releases are so challenging. Is there a good place to see a list of releases and where they will be available? Target? Walmart? I never seem to know until its too late.

Here in Canada he was listed on Walmart.ca but was never available to purchase online. His listing said available in store but not a single location in Canada had him in stock.

Elite 73 Walmart Exclusive, came out around Dec 2019. Dont think it was shortpacked, but definitely sold out quick. It is going for $100-125 on ebay right now.

Meant to be a Wal-Mart exclusive. Released with Elite 72, the first series with the current red/white packaging. Most started finding cases in stores last December.
Series lineup was:
Becky Lynch Batista Rey Mysterio Velveteen Dream Roderick Strong Buddy Murphy (with Chase)
Several cases hit my area, but was late all but once. I believe that was around the time stores changed their receiving policy, and not wanting to have excess inventory in the back. Messed up my timing of when they restocked merch.

He was in elite 72. That set hit retail early December 2019. Gorilla was packed 1 per case at Wal-Mart only. Most of that set is pricey already.
Batista-$40-$55 Murphy-$45-60 Murphy variant-$60-$100 Roderick-$45-$60 Gorilla-$85-$120

I never saw any of those figures in my stores. Why so scarce? It feels so crazy that some series you see forever and some almost non existent.
I want my damn gorilla at regular price!!

My Walmart skipped 72. I was going to walmart every day to see a friend before the pandemic so I know they never got it. Monsoon was the first figure I was excited about since Sherri. Which shows how picky I am. Just sucks to finally get excited for something and never see it.

this was a figure i wanted badly. I was never able to find it. Most of that series was tough and scalped so much. It sucks that one of my favorites I will never get. I was excited for the two pack but when i found it was moved to an elite i was fine, then it went to Walmart exclusive and thought ok hope for the best... then Walmart didn't stock so many series and the ones they got, were scalped.

I feel like mattel should rerelease him at higher availability. Put him in target or something.

Even a basic Monsoon can do it for me. A battle pack with banana accessories.

I feel like this happens year. People are buying like crazy during the holidays, and these sets can literally be sold through in a matter of hours, and collectors will never see them. You have parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc out buying indiscriminately.
I think some collectors grossly underestimate just how many Gorilla Monsoons, Buddy Murphys, and Harley Races ended up getting opened on Christmas morning and are currently sitting at the bottom of a toy box missing an arm.

He was a Collectors Edition fig for Walmart in Elite 72, the first official wave of 2020 but he started popping up around Christmas time last year.
While the Target folks had a rough time with Ohno, us Legends collectors had Monsoon but I was lucky to get one for the price I did. As a matter of fact a lot of E72 is up there in price, especially Buddy Murphy and Roddy Strong.

Yeah the wave hit my area WalMarts in either late Nov or early Dec because they were under my tree on Christmas. I missed him the first time because I didn’t realize his was in that series. (Thought it was the next series) as soon as I saw Murphy and Strong on the first two pegs I didn’t look any farther back. But he was there because they had no Elites the night before and a full case the next morning. I went back later in the day once I realize Gorilla was in that set but all that was left was Batista. Then they restocked the assortment four times but Gorilla and Murphy were always gone. Luckily Nivro™ picked one up for me.

I never would’ve found one in the wild, if I didn’t travel an hour away to the airport. Never saw E72 at my Walmarts and just only once at Target.

This one must have been short packed or not shipped heavily to my area (or was purchased by a bunch of people) because this one took forever to find. I still have only seen this figure in stores once and I purchased it.

The Walmart i used to go to was stuck on Elite 70 for the longest time. They still had some a few days before Christmas. When they finally restocked after the new year it jumped to Elite 73.

Random figs like that Batista and the E74 Goldberg randomly jumped like crazy in value as soon as Ringside ran out of stock
