One thing I absolutely wanna point out is, I am old enough (sadly) to remember Meltzer’s reaction to Tyson coming in to WWE in 1998 and he was very against it, thought it was desperate, a waste of money, wasn’t gonna pay off, and you could have lured key WCW away with that money. He thinks it’s a good idea now for AEW...with a 22 years older Tyson without fans. I get it then...I get it now there are people who will give it the time of day because Mike Tyson still carries that unpredictable presence not saying he didn’t speak negatively of it at some point potentially, but here he’s pretty damn optimistic about it - stating that wcw was attempting to get Tyson too but Turner didn’t want to get mixed up in Tyson’s controversy and how if positioned as a baby face it could help put over a new major face (it did exactly that). only thing he said negatively was something along the lines of “Tyson might further sully wrestling in people’s eyes, but that was the WWF’s clear direction as of the last year anyways.” I’ll search for it, he may have changed his tune when it started but I know initially when it was first talked about he talked about it like a waste of money for them, maybe once the angle started and he saw it and the ratings, my buddy saved all his observers and he was bored a few a years ago and he would send me parts of it that in retrospect were funny like him just hating Goldust and saying the character would be dead in a few weeks and ruin Dustins career, He speculated that the Montreal screwjob was the final nail in the Wwe coffin and he sent me the Tyson stuff.

If Tyson pops a number (it doesn’t matter what the year is) it’s a good move.
That said, I didn’t like the segment. lol

Can they even trust Tyson in the ring? The guy just seems so lost and idiotic. That’s one thing I’ll say WWE does better than anyone else, Tyson looked out of place but his dumbass entourage trying to steal the show and upstage and get their face on camera. His acting friend with the face paint was awful. They obviously didn’t clue all that entourage and tell them where to be and what to do. AEW wants to give creative freedoms and are probably afraid to tell Tyson no on anything. But someone backstage needs to nut up and shoot down things like when Tyson is on tv.

So I'm late to the game, but I finally got to watch my PVR'd AEW Dynamite show last night. It was a better show than the previous week and here's why:
Brian Cage squash match, exactly what needed to happen. I feel sorry for that jobber guy because he obviously invests in his ring gear; but does his job perfectly every week.
FTR finally in AEW, now let's get back to some serious tag team wrestling - the division was looking so strong before the quarantine.
Brit's promo was terrific, she's found her niche, it sucks that she's so unlucky with injuries though.
Jericho's Inner Circle has become a parody, which isn't necessarily a bad thing - but I can't take these guys seriously anymore; they are riding that tweener line.
what I'm still iffy about:
If you aren't going to build characters up through vingettes or promos, don't make them be so competitive against the champ. Why was Shida not more dominant? Who is this Brazilian chick? Every week it's a new girl. I have yet to see Anna Jayy back on Dynamite other than being in the crowd. It makes no sense.
Speaking of making no sense, Best Friends win a #1 contender match at the pre-show of Double or Nothing 2 and Havoc/Sabin go over former champs and get a title shot? Yes they will lose next week, but wtf? They line up Brian Cage for Mox, but MJF is undefeated in a year with 8-0 record...
TNT open-challenge. During the pandemic we saw Cody on every week and as much as I like him, it was too much. As I thought they should have kept the AEW belt on Jericho for a year to establish belt credibility, I feel AEW should shock the world and have Cody drop the TNT belt quickly. He doesn't need a belt, he needs a meaningful feud. So he beats Lance Archer who has been egging him on for months, and now he's an after-thought? there's got to be more to the story. On another note, Cody is cutting the best promos of his life!

I wish Cole would try and teach his gf how to cut a promo. That segment was terrible - mainly due to Baker's poor mic skills. I don't understand why people think she's good. This Reba chick has a nice butt That's Rebel from TNA.

This Reba chick has a nice butt That's Rebel from TNA. I think Brit has definitely gotten better on the mic, but that promo was a little rough. I was hoping it'd be a pre-taped television segment, but whatever. I trust she'll be better the next time she does a promo.
