Ok so we all know the story with LOD in 1992....Pills & booze officially take a hold of Hawk and it has dire consequences for the team.
They start the year in a programme with the Natural Disasters which according to most wasn't working out. Vince liked the style of Dibiase & IRS together and officially made them a squad to ease the burden on Ted who was carrying many niggling injuries. Plans changed to Vince wanting Money Inc to beat Hawk & Animal @ WM8 for the straps and L.O.D. would chase them to SSlam 92 and beat them in a match that was going to be 2nd/3rd last...very high up the card.
But as we all know Hawk got badly wasted..caused a lot of trouble and failed a test badly in early Feb 92. Cue Vince getting Money Inc to beat them at a house show(not even on TV) & suspending Hawk for a stretch. Plan was still for LOD to beat Money Inc for the straps at SS but Hawk was busted again with Jake Roberts & that was that. They faced Money Inc in the opening match & he quit straight after.
But...say none of this happened. LOD beats Money Inc as schedule in the semi ME...this has a big impact on WWF in late 1992.
Vince went after the Steiner's HARD after LOD disbanded & many say Ultimate Madness was a direct result of their departure.....but if they had stayed? Who would they have feuded with?
NDs again? 1st time Vince wasn't happy so I couldn't see it....continue on against Money Inc? Don't see that either. Vince turned Enos & Bloom from the convincing Destruction Crew into the comedy jobbers Beverly Brothers.
thoughts?

I guess it would be like the butterfly effect. I’m not entirely convinced that Money Inc would exist if Hawks issues hadnt arisen.
But working on the assumption that we got to the end of the year with all teams in tact, I do wonder if Vince still goes after the Steiners, turn LOD heel. Ideally, if the Steiners sign after Summerslam, you could have the Steiners team with Macho and Warrior (or Perfect, if Warrior goes down the same route) v Flair, Ramon and LOD. The Steiners and LOD feud until WM, with the brothers going over.
But even if the Steiners arrive early 93 as happened (I think), the only logical thing to me is to have the two teams feud. Hopefully a competitive feud, completely opposite to LOD/Demolition.
The biggest problem for me is in late 92, I can’t think of any other team that could be perceived as a threat to LOD.

I always wanted to see a big blow off match with them and The Beverly Brothers, it went on for weeks on TV, but unless you were at a house show, you never got to see Legion of Doom really get them back.
If they had stayed and Vince still went after the Steiners I could see that being the big tag team feud going forward. However, if I am being 100 percent honest I could see them just sticking with Legion of Doom vs Money Inc instead of really doing anything new.

I think a LOD/Headskrinkers feud would have been cool

LOD would have been gone no matter what. Look at how quickly all the steroid wrestlers left in 1992. No way would Hawk and Animal have stayed well into 1993. Plus to me, the LOD is a team that once they lose the tag titles, they kind of have to leave that territory/organization. They need to go somewhere else and do the gimmick all over again with coming in, destroying teams, winning the belts, then losing them and continue on.

I think a LOD/Headskrinkers feud would have been cool I never actually thought about this, but I think this could be a great idea. Especially if they made the Head Shrinkers really savage and not scared of the "power" of the Legion of Doom.

It would have been interesting. I think if Hawk had not had his personal issues, I could see the Legion of Doom hanging onto those titles for some time. I believe they were undefeated in the WWF until they lost to the Natural Disasters at RR92. I could see them facing the Natural Disasters again at WM8, possibly loosing the titles to them only to regain them at SSL92 in front of that crowd at Wembley. After that, it is kind of hard to say where they would have gone. If the WWF decided to go ahead and put Money Inc. together, I could see LOD feuding with them after SSL92 and through the new year until new teams like the Steiner's, Headshrinkers, and Quebecers arrived. It would have been cool to see a LOD vs Steiner's match, maybe build that towards WM10 if both teams stayed with the company until then, maybe even turn one of those teams heel to give them a different look.

I forgot about the Headshrinkers…...plus they had a history of working together. That would have been great actually....

HELL YES to LOD/Shrinkers. I can picture them beating the tar outta each other just like they did in the NWA during the late 80s.

I kind of feel like it was inevitable. The LOD were never truly a Vince McMahon creation. I mean look at him saddling them with that ridiculous ventriloquist dummy gimmick. He clearly didn't know how to best utilize them.

That is one great stable right there!

I got the present of Smash & Crush for my Birthday one year but never used him....My original Smash was beat up & I loved the masks but I swapped Crush for Virgil ot KVE with my buddy Gary LOL
