I have been watching the old Nitro shows from 1995. It was an hour filled of great characters and wrestling. Lex Luger had just left WWE to come back to WCW. Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage and Sting were trying to fight off the Dungeon Of Doom. You also had the Four Horsemen feud with Ric Flair and Arn Anderson around that time.

Baby steps towards something bigger.

I always liked the Mall of America setting for the first show.Shame they never went back there. There was no live gate and they were just there to plug hulk Hogan 's pastamania restaurant 🍝

There was alot of talent like DDP, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Mr. JL, Johnny B. Badd, Dean Malenko, Alex Wright, Brian Pillman and The Giant. The only things I didn't like were The Yeti and Lex Luger as a heel again. Hulk Hogan also started wearing black with the new dark side gimmick.

I like the commentary team of Eric Bischoff, Bobby Heenan and Steve McMichael. Scott Norton is as tough as nails. I just got finished watching his match against another tough guy John Tenta. Hulk Hogan and Sting should have been on PPV instead of WCW Nitro. That was a big money match. Kevin Sullivan has a great mind for the business. I enjoy listening to his promos in the Dungeon Of Doom. You can't have Four Horsemen without Ric Flair or Arn Anderson.

I love me some WCW Nitro from 1995! I was entertained by ever episode when I watched them about a year ago on the WWE Network. I even liked the first four months of 1996 for Nitro. The hour shows were fun, you could go through like 3 or 4 of them a night, where when Nitro ran the 3 hour shows you pretty much watch one Nitro a night then.

I never liked Mongo in the booth but I gotta admit some of the back and forth with Heenan was gold...

If you basically set aside everything with Hogan (admittedly a big chunk of the show...), the early Nitros are pretty outstanding. You had PPV caliber shows on just about every show. It was a true variety show with different styles of wrestling from all over the world. The commentary team was better than it had any business being. And you had some true dream matches in the tag division with the Steiners, Harlem Heat, the R&R Express, Horsemen Luger & Sting, and then the Road Warriors for a hot second in '96.
It's just this crazy melting pot of some of the draws from the 80's still hanging around in the mid card, rising stars, and then some hidden gems like Jerry Lynn or Sabu who would make their mark elsewhere. It made for some really fascinating matchups looking back in an era where into '95 most of RAW was still jobber matches. And the way they used Luger as a tweener was a masterclass in character development.
