So Haystacks was, if I remember correctly, slated for an April delivery. We're now in June.

Has there been any updates?

Bit strange that people have the Hayabusa variant but not the Dynamite variant in hand, too.

ZST was criticized for announcing new releases while failing to deliver the ones that had already been pre-ordered, so I feel like Chella should be open to the same scrutiny.

In the comments on the MOC Haku post on Instagram Chella answered a question about the Megastars Dynamite Kid second run where they said that they were waiting for them to pass through customs.

They also said in another question that they are expecting the Adam Bomb replacements in two weeks.

Not sure what the latest we heard about Haystacks or the Dynamite variant was - they were said to be shipped-out from the factory around the same time as the Dynamite re-release so maybe they're stuck in customs as well?

I’m not sure how much legal gray area there is over the Doink name and the look…especially from an overseas company. Even so, they would have had to sign someone as you pointed out. I think an ECW Matt Bourne would be incredible but unlikely.

Booger is a good pick…but didn’t Zombie say he was exclusive?

Luger is a possibility but I feel like he wouldn’t be doing that since he is still working with WWE. It isn’t impossible as we have seen…I just don’t know how likely it is. The same could be said for Jarrett. If it is Jeff, I wonder if we will get his 1995 look that he used in both WWF and WCW?

Mabel feels like our best bet…But we shall see.

Nash would be awesome but highly, highly doubt they signed him.

Charles spoke about reaching-out to WWE to clear things with them and work-out how far they can go with their blessing, but for something like Doink then I can’t see anyway WWE would let that IP be handled by an outside company. He mentioned that Ax and Smash will be released under their real names after talks with WWE, so something like more active like Doink and Diesel seems unlikely; I wouldn’t be surprised if the name Mabel would be off-limits as well but since we’re getting Mo then maybe the wrestlers registered those names themselves at some point if WWE let the trademarks expire?

But I don’t think gimmick names would be a problem in general, not for lines targeted directly at long-term fans and collectors but things like logos and such are a different matter.

Would love an ECW Matt Bourne as well - I think that could be a very popular figure for whomever could work-out a way to make it happen.

As I remember it there wasn’t much time between Jarrett getting the issues around his name sorted-out and Zombie announcing him, so I doubt Chella would’ve had that much time to get a deal done before Zombie made Jarrett his most impressive signing so far. Also I wouldn’t be surprised if ZST did some repaints of the Jarrett figure given the range of attire designs he had in the New Gen era so there might be a longer-term deal potentially there.

Maybe ZST calling Booger an exclusive signing could’ve been motivated by knowledge of if they had had talks with Chella? Still seems unlikely to me that it would be him though since Charles says that the person was signed.



I find it interesting that Charles refers to the people rather than the gimmicks - that could point to Nash or Luger maybe as guys who had many more looks than just the orange card gimmicks; same with Jarrett. But Mabel might still be the most likely option, I just don’t understand why they’d not announce them together given the delay between the interview and the design of Mo being released.

But in general I would think it’s more important for Chella to get more figures out rather than just announce endless streams of guys - they already have like 10 unique guys out (not counting repaints) but when you have like 20 other guys announced then adding more to that list is going to build frustration.

Yeah I can see Mattel potentially doing a retro Doink.

Yeah, Bourne was out of the WWF in late '93, and I think that orange/purple attire was worn by Apollo in '94.

I wonder if the person performing the role will impact the figure or if they have the rights to make a Doink regardless, it's an interesting point.

I hope Mattel do it justice, assuming they do it at all, it'd be a must-have for me.

Still hoping for a Bourne Again figure, but not sure that will ever happen. I'm not sure why Mattel haven't done it if the WWE have the ability to produce ECW names.
