nah, I honestly thought it was really lame and unfitting.
I felt very similar about his run in wwf later on, but obviously that was a deserved nostalgic run that many loved.

I was in the crowd that night (it still bothers me to this day that WCW always announced their shows in Idaho as being in Boise, when in reality they were broadcast from the Idaho Center, which is kind of in between Nampa and Meridian). Anyway, it was probably the loudest crowd reaction I've witnessed firsthand. So it definitely went over well with my fellow hayseeds. On a personal note, it was cool to see in person and be there for, it didn't really mean anything to me. The same wrestler with a new (previously-used) coat of paint.

As a 9 year old, it was awesome.
Looking back on it now, it was rushed and made literally no sense. Just a few months earlier he was still running with the nWo and being heelish as hell (even when he was suppose to be the “face” against Flair). This should have been built up over months with a slow turn. Hogan starts becoming more hesitant to do heelish things. Someone like Scott Steiner starts challenging him for leadership on the nWo and claiming Hogan doesn’t have it anymore. The nWo eventually kicks Hogan out with a beatdown, and Hogan returns a few months later in the red and yellow for revenge.
And I always thought it was weird seeing Hogan in 1999 wearing his old tights. We had gotten so use to Hogan wearing the long tights for nearly 4 years at this point that it was weird seeing his old man legs again.
