I understand the dislike for BFA, though I liked it as a kid, but what else could be done with the wrestlers in the tournament? All the guys in the tournament were future "future endeavored" guys but BFA gave them something to do. I hate that so many guys got hurt but WWF was doing nothing else with them at the time. None of them were connecting with the fans even during a time period where so many previous job guys were over because of the Attitude Era.

I think one issue with the long discussed supposed Austin vs Williams feud that was allegedly planned is with Williams himself. Had the feud gone as planned there's a big part of me that believes the WWF crowd would definitely not have appreciated or cared about Williams.
I think when it's all said and done they would have had a single PPV main event for the title, which Austin wins. Then we would have seen Williams plummet down the card pretty quick. I wouldn't even see him having a run near the top ala Vader.

None of them were connecting with the fans even during a time period where so many previous job guys were over because of the Attitude Era. The Brawl 4 All was created almost exclusively as a creative way to get Bradshaw knocked out, admitted by nearly all parties involved. They ended up reverse engineering it as a way to may e get Dr. Death over too. I don't think those guys weren't "not connecting" with the fans so much as not being used at that specific point in time. Business was hot then and even low card guys were getting pops at times. Considering the large amount of underneath storylines during the attitude era, its not unreasonable that they easily could have come up with something better than the Brawl 4 All. Hell, they even could have done the Brawl 4 All but made it a work and it'd be a better decision.

Doc wasnt a "character" and would have never worked in WWE at any point at the main event level. That's always been the thing with WWE is that their main event guys are always a character. Even when its guys that are "just themselves but turned up" They're still a character.

Even when its guys that are "just themselves but turned up" They're still a character. He also wouldn't have been able to do crazy suplexes that got him over in Japan. It was clear then that if you're a stiff worker, you're in the mid card or lower. He also is lacking in promos, which are more important in the US. At best we'd be looking at another Vader-esque run. At worst we're looking at a low card guy. 98/99 WWF fans are just going to see a big boring guy with a mullet. It makes no sense to bring Doc in as a top heel in late 90s WWF.
