With the passing of Regis Philbin I'm curious to know if Regis ever guest starred in WWE wrestling matches? Because Live With Regis And Kathie Lee used to have interviews with WWE stars and the only thing I discovered was that in an episode of Live With Regis And Kathie Lee Stone Cold Steve Austin appeared on there as a guest and Regis Philbin wrestled with him. Was Regis Philbin a huge WWE fan in his career? Doctorwhofan

I just rewatched VI and VIII recently and I thought it was around that time), doing some backstage interviews and I wanna say guest commentary too. He was a wrestling fan.

Regis Philbin was a wrestling fan? I find it hard to believe because he would've so cool in the WWE matches doing guest appearences. I also found some episodes of Live With Regis And Kathie Lee on Youtube where he interviewed Bret Hart and Macho Man Randy Savage and The Undertaker and they are cool. Did Regis Philbin also appear with John Cena on Live With Regis And Kelly as well? Doctorwhofan

It was WrestleMania VII that Regis appeared interviewing backstage, and then being part of commentary for the main event. He also sent a congratulatory video for the 1000th episode of Raw. I don't know if it was a big fan, but he was a fan. I guess early in his career he would interview Freddie Blassie, and the two became friends. He's got a pretty good list of wrestlers he's interviewed over the years too, Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Ultimate Warrior, Rick Rude, Lex Luger, Steve Austin, Jim Cornette, Yokozuna, The Bushwackers, Bret Hart, Undertaker, Paul Bearer. WWE's statement says John Cena too, but I can't find anything about that.

I could have sworn one of Austin's appearances he was showing Regis an actual wrestling move, and how you'd get out, and accidentally smacked Regis' face into the mat they had set up, but I can't find anything of it. I could be mistaking it for a different show and/or a different wrestler.

He didn’t appear in any matches, but he playfully wrestled with guys on his show like Kurt Angle.

Regis vs. Dean Malenko took place in July of 2000 at a live event in Los Angeles. They went the 60 minute broad way and Regis asked for 5 more minutes. Regis then found his inner "Rugged" Ronnie Garvin and hit Dean with the hands of stone punch, knocking Dean out and Regis got the 1 2 3.
The fact nobody remembers this just goes to show you really need to catch up on your wrestling knowledge.

Bret put him in the Sharpshooter once if I'm not mistaken.

No, I know about that one. The Hogan/Belzer thing was more in the vain of Dr. D, where Belzer thought he was so funny, he'd have the wrestlers on and go on the whole fake pokes at him, and then Hogan decided to give him a dose of real, when he put him in the head lock. I'm not sure if he knew Belzer was out when he released him, thus resulting in the cracked head. And again, now it's making me think I'm confusing this with another wrestler and/or talk show. But it was kinda like a demonstration where he was showing how you might escape a certain position. He was on all fours, like in amateur wrestling, with the host basically on his back, and then he spun out of it, but did it a bit too quick, and the host's face smacked into the floor. I thought it was Austin and Regis, but I can't find a shred of info on it, so I'm thinking I'm confused on who it was.
