?
Question mark wouldn’t fit in the title.
Anyone remember when the world title would be on the line all the time on free TV? Watch a RAW or SD between 1999 and 2001, it was on the line ALL the time. Now, barely ever. I get it makes defenses “more special,” but do you wish the world title could be on the line on TV more?

If it's not just random world title matches, then yes. But if a world title is just being open challenged every week, it can devalue it.

No, but only because they do PPVs every month. If they had a schedule more like the takeovers then yes a bit as long as it's not every bloody week.

there's a fine line....but anything at this point is better than Lesnar defending it 2x per year

It’s hard to say. I don’t think it’d make a huge difference either way right now. About 99% of those matches were some variation of The Rock vs Triple H, and they were full of character and plot twists and all the shenanigans of DX and the McMahons and so on - and crucially, all that stuff was new.
Now, the talent just isn’t there for it. So many of the roster can do themselves a workrate, but the Internet in 2002-2018 was lying the entire time - nobody cares about workrate the way they care about characters and stories. And the wrestlers that came up thinking ROH/NJPW was the greatest thing, they have struggled with the character part. Very little is must-see in the Suicide Dive Era.
And even if the stories did replicate the attitude era stuff with frequent title matches and hot potato switches, even if the performers were pulling off great character work alongside it, the big problem is we’ve seen it all before a thousand times now, with stronger performers. So it probably wouldn’t penetrate the hate-boner people have for WWE anyway.

Only if it has a non-bs finish and actually means something in the grand-scheme.

Yes, it makes the main events more interesting.

The Championship Title matches should only be on pay per views. Non-Tite matches, such as number one contender matches, should be on the weekly episodic shows.
The only exception should be the 24/7 Championship Title.

Yeah every now and then. It does seem rarer now than even 10 years ago or so.

I like seeing the top guy defending the top belt, but under these few conditions.
1. If the World Championship is defended on television, it HAS to be the main event. CM Punk was right, the Champ deserves respect. This goes for Pay-Per-Views as well (for the most part). 2. It shouldn't be a regular thing, it should be a special occasion. The poor folk watching "free" television should feel privileged to see a World champion. What? It's a joke... Kinda. 3. The challengers should be mid-carders, not main event contenders. Let's use this as an hypothetical example. Roman Reigns is the World Champion, he is defending the belt against um... Randy Orton at the next PPV. Let's say Big E is an up and coming mid-card guy. Giving someone in his position a World Title shot opens up a lot of scenarios. Such as Reigns squashing Big E, Reigns and Big E having a competitive match putting Big E over without winning while still making Reigns look like a strong champion, Big E pulling an upset win, Big E winning by countout of disqualification leading to a rematch, or having the Number One contender (Randy Orton) interfere and further the story with Reigns... Or if Orton wins at the hypothetical Pay-Per-View, Big E would be the next contender. The only reason a World Champion should defend the belt on TV against another main event caliber guy would be a PPV rematch. Still using the same hypothetical scenario, say Orton wins by DQ. He wants a rematch. Or Orton wins the title, Reigns can have his rematch on RAW.
Long response but whatever, I like typing about wrestling.

Professional wrestling is the ultimate combination of athleticism and storytelling. Hopefully I can master that ability my damn self.

I’m not fussed because let’s be honest, they’d have DQ finishes anyway.

Long response but whatever, I like typing about wrestling. #1 makes sense, of course your main event should be your world championship, unless something like the RAW after Mania 31 happens where the challenger demands a rematch immediately at the start of the show. #2 also makes sense, you don’t want to just give random people world title shots on free tv just to have them. If you’re going to have a title match on free tv, there needs to be a reason for it to happen. Maybe the challenger couldn’t wait and they agreed to have a match, who knows. Your #3 wouldn’t work well. In my eyes, why would you give Big E a world title shot against Roman Reigns if Randy Orton is #1 contender? That’d be like I’m the UFC if they didn’t give the bantamweight title shot to Aljamain Sterling after he won a “1 contendership fight” because they want to have the new champ defend against someone else first, who ends up being ranked below Aljo. Ok maybe that example doesn’t work out too well, but my point is, why would Big E get the first world title shot over Orton, who earned it? Why couldn’t they just have a non title match on TV? It would make 0 sense to throw a random world title match on free tv just because you want to have a world title match on tv, because in that case why not just have Randy vs Reigns on TV and end in a dirty finish to go into the PPV as a rematch? That makes more sense than giving a random midcarder a title shot that the fans all know won’t win. And you’re surely not going to give Big E an upset win on television and win the World Championship unless you’ve already been building something else up, because otherwise then you’ve ruined a Reigns/Orton storyline and left Orton to sit on the sidelines as Reigns goes back for his title he shouldn’t have lost. Also this just makes the world title look less prestigious if you have a mid carder just up and win the title on a random episode of RAW.

Yeah every once in a while it's cool, the chances of it changing hands are very slim but it certainly adds a bit of something to the show overall, and it's a notch on the post for a defending champion rather than everyone losing the belt after 3 or 4 successful defenses

Maybe Big E beat Reigns in a non-title match, maybe Big E lost to Orton in a match where the winner got a PPV title match and the loser got a TV title match, maybe I'm not a goddamn booker. But having a mid-carder in a World Title match would elevate them. Wrestling in general doesn't work under sports logic, especially in WWE. The point is trying to create as many main eventers as possible. The best way to do that is to either A. Have a competitive match with the World Champion or to B. Beat a former World Champion. Let's say Randy Orton became the number one contender on RAW. The next week Randy Orton gets pinned by Big E in a tag team match. At the PPV Orton wins the strap. Big E deserves his shot because he has already beaten the new champion before. So Big E vs Orton happens the night after the PPV. That's a TV World Title Match done right.
