When I get mine, I'm doing the WWWF Champion head. First Billy I saw as a kid was with Muraco, but through the years I've definitely seen way more, and am a way bigger fan of this Championship era.

For right now, I'm displaying him with the younger 1970s head. The attire and torso sculpt doesn't really go with the older head. Unfortunately the sunglasses don't fit very well on either head. The attire actually does work with the older Billy Graham, but you are right, the torso/upper body does not. Interesting. Know what event this image is from?

It looks like he wore it more than once, it is probably not specific to any event. It's gonna be hard to pin down when this was since I don't think he wrestled on any of the PPVs or SNME shows, unless someone recognizes the arena/stadium he is at in the pictures. More than likely these are house show event pictures.

That looks a lot like the Wisconsin State Fair grandstand in West Allis, WI. The State Fair had WWF cards in ‘86 and ‘87. Hogan vs. Hercules Hernandez headlined the ‘86 card. This was the ‘87 card where I think that picture of Graham outdoors was taken.
WWF @ Milwaukee, WI - State Fair - August 9, 1987 (matinee) (7,831) Rick Rude defeated Lanny Poffo Killer Khan pinned Hillbilly Jim Davey Boy Smith & Jim Brunzell vs. Bob Orton Jr. & Frenchy Martin (sub. for Don Muraco) Superstar Billy Graham (sub. for Ken Patera) defeated Hercules; Bobby Heenan was handcuffed to the Crusher for the duration of the bout Koko B. Ware defeated Danny Davis WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan pinned Sika

Yes, I don't think he wore feather boas much, I can't find any of him in the late 80s with one.

Was there a time period he started going away from the old karate/martial arts gimmick and doing more of the tye dye flamboyant gear again? Now I kind of want to buy a second Billy Graham figure to display them both ways.

It was when Backlund was champion pre-Hulkamania

He actually does a pretty good promo during this time saying that there was an imposter going around pretending to be Superstar Billy Graham, doing karate or something... It was a good way to down play that ridiculous karate gimmick and get back to the old Superstar.

I got my today and I'll be displaying it as 80s Billy Graham. STUNNING figure but one nitpack -I really wish the shirt was a different design than Muraco. Like, I REALLY wish it was different.

most of us remember him bald and showing up at WrestleMania, but he really made his mark on wrestling in the 70s. The young-era has a more characteristic head-scuplt in my opinion. You also have more accessory options for display: tye-dye shirt which he did wear back then, feather boa, shades, and if you get a Batista cap it just tops off the entire look. Great display piece. If ever Mattel makes a WWWF belt, it would just take it over the top - hell I'm sure there are customized belt-makers out there than can do that already.

Yeah he was really the first heel WWWF champion. We really need that classic WWWF title belt design to go with these Billy Graham and Bruno Sammartino and Backlund elites.

Or at the very least, same design done in different colors. I've been keeping another wrestler in between them as a buffer because they blend together on the display shelf.
