Mauro was their best play-by-play commentator. Damn shame.

Loved his enthusiasm, but never cared for his commentary.

I’d rather have someone over the top that sounds like he actually cares and has a personality over the near animatronics they roll out for every other show. I get he's not everyone's cup of tea, personally I love his commentary but can see why others wouldn't. Regardless of how you feel about him, I think it's unfair to say he doesn't care. He always seems passionate commentating and speaks highly of the product off air.

He was excellent on New Japan coverage. Never fit well with WWE's micromanaged commentary style.
Those limited contracts kept us from getting a figure, dang it.

Lost Nigel (god knows why), now Mauro... yet we still have to suffer through listening to Beth Phoenix's embarassing and abysmal attempt, at "commentary" every week. At least Barrett being added makes it better - would've been good to see Nigel and Wade, announce together.

Can't see him going back to NXT with Barrett there now though. 2 British commentators on the American NXT would be pretty weird - even if they are both brilliant. Don't think it's a coincidence Nigel is coming back just as NXT:UK is supposed to be starting up again.

Was never a fan of Mauro. WWE hasn't had a good commentator for a dog's age now. Nigel is alright.
I mean, this is the saddest day in the history of this brand. Similar to when The Joker killed Robin! As black as the shirts once worn by wrestling's resident rebels the nWo! Mama mia!

He reminded of Joey Styles in a sense he was so good he could have called the whole show solo. I would have loved to even seen him do it. A great legend none the less. I often dismiss people who dislike him. Maybe we see him feature in some guest spots announcing down the road much like they do with JBL, Booker and King at Wrestlemanias and Royal Rumbles sometimes.

I'll be more inclined to watch NXT events now.

The "Mama Mia" catchphrase was awful and I hate Mauro always using that phrase for high spots in matches.

Good! It will be nice to actually hear what the other commentators are saying for once.

MAMA MIAAAAA
Used to enjoy him but his constant pop culture references soured me on him. Some of them were so cringe

The "Mama Mia" catchphrase was awful and I hate Mauro always using that phrase for high spots in matches. Always felt like he was trying too hard to get it over like JR had BAH GAWD

Good, he’s awful on commentary. The yelling doesn’t suit

Admittedly I haven't heard much of Mauro's work over the past year with the exception of of the Takeover specials, but I always thought he brought enthusiasm and genuine excitement to the commentary table which more often than not got me more invested in the matches taking place.
I understand he's not everyone's cup of tea but for me I always really enjoyed his commentary. The best way I can compare is to how JR used to commentate certain matches back in the late 90's and early 2000's. I mean that in the sense that it felt he was truly reacting to what was happening in the ring rather than being fed lines through a headset. I hope Mauro continues to live out his dreams and I'm looking forward to seeing where he goes in the future.
