I don't think Bret going to TNA would have been a thing he'd ever consider, he warned AJ Styles that being in TNA was wasting his career, and it's not like he ever wanted to go to WCW.
I think after what happened to Owen and the Screwjob he probably wouldn't have returned to wrestle much before his 2010 return.

I think Bret would of had to have been part timer at some point. I think by the time he hit WWE he would of been part timer. I read somewhere Bret actually didn't call it good with Vinny Mac till 2005. So maybe a WrestleMania 22 program? It would of been cool to see Bret show up in time for WM XX. I think that would of been the best time period. A showdown with Vince in the garden or Shawn. And maybe on and off programs until WrestleMania 22, someone like Randy Orton could of retired him.

I imagine that he'd have sat out the duration of his WCW contract but gotten the itch around the time that his dvd actually did come out. I can see him wanting to have a short program with Angle in order to go out in WWF/E on decent terms with an ending befitting his legacy.
