Anyone else think that Rocky should have retained the WWF Title at Judgement Day 2000? Yeah Taker had a great return, but people seem to over look the fact that HHH had been getting the better of Rocky for a year at that point. Rocky chased HHH from the summer of ‘99 until finally winning the title at Backlash 2000, and then lost the title a month later. Sure Rocky got the title back at King of the Ring, but he didn’t even pin HHH to win the title.
To me those two title changes were pointless and didn’t really do anything for either man. Yeah it was the attitude era and titles changed hands a lot but those are two title changes that could have been avoided.

They sure were... whole situation starts with Austin not being cleared medically to participate at WM2000 so Vince throws the kitchen sink at it & we get that sh*te ME & HHH retaining with McMahon overload....BUT it works out for the best. We get a killer ME with a piping hot crowd at Backlash 2000 & everything goes to plan & then some for Vince, Rock & HHH. This should have been the start of a decent length reign for Rock. but then yeah...a month later HHH regains only to drop it a month after? I genuinely didn't get it at the time. Now the way it happened didnt hurt Rock & introduced UT into the dynamic but there was better ways IMHO. Weird slice of booking.

It led to some of the best TV in company history, so all was not lost.

Yea I remember at the time as a kid being annoyed that Rock lost that quick after chasing for so long. They almost certainly did it so they could bring Kane and Taker back as faces within the month after so I kind of see now why they did it but as said above there probably were better ways to get there as well. I’d still to this day put that Raw episode after Judgment Day up as one of my top 10 favorite episodes of all time.
