So I'm watching some WWF Wrestling Challenge from April 1987. I remember Sivi, but vaguely. Was he basically the Corporal Kirschner to Snuka'a Sgt Slaughter? Did he have any direction or push? Just curious. These are things you think about at 6am while brushing teeth. Thanks..

He had some minor wins early on but for the most part he was a jobber. The only direction they gave em was a very brief run in the Islanders. If you blinked you missed it type deal.

I think they billed him as Snuka's cousin & brought him in when Snuka left.
He wrestled years ago in Portland (I think) as Sivi Snuka or Jimmy Avi.
He really never made it past mid-card status.

Sivi was suppose to be the "New" Snuka but he just didn't have "it" to do it. They tired to turn him heel and be with "The Islanders" as "Chief" Afi, with Bobby Heenan as his manager, he even went as far as to get the painful tattoos that Peter Maivia had, only to never see TV time, just a brief mention on "Prime Time Wrestling". The WWF released Afi. I don't think it would have gone anywhere anyway. But at least he has cool leg tattoos!

He was actually still in the business until 1997, oddly enough.

Should have been World Champion and been in the main event of at least four Wrestlemania shows in the 80s.
Okay, I am just kidding.... make it three Wrestlemania shows.

It's crazy he got the tattoos and was gone shortly after. He must have wanted to get them done for himself, I can't imagine the company asking him to do that only to let him go not long after. The Islanders 3 man match must have been the first time he got a non jobber entrance. He was so happy he started high fiving the fans.

I wonder looking back now, if the idea was to have Siva Afi and Tama remain the Islanders since it wasn't too long after that in which Haku became King Haku as a singles wrestler.

I'm willing to bet they didn't ask him to do it, but kinda implied that he should because he might be "world champion someday"!

I could see this being the case. The only way they stay a trio is if Harley never got injured on that SNME against Hogan.

Sivi is a guy I'd like to hear on a shoot. He was there during some of the hottest years of the company. It surprised me he never made it a bit better. If Scott Casey can make a PPV then Sivi certainly could have been an extra but I guess he was gone before rumbles and survivor series really took off.
My guess on the three Islanders timing would be either, as mentioned, Haku will be crowned King as Race's replacement or Tama is about to leave or be fired or Sivi is the replacement or the threesome continue to be a threesome with no different gimmicks. I wonder what Bobby Heenan thought about him. I know he was involved with the Brawler for a few months but Brawler was kind of a funny character. Sivi was almost a true jobber and way out of Bobby's league.

I doubt Mattel will ever do a figure of his, but I’m a little surprised he never got a Classic Superstars figure.
