I’ve yet to organise mine, I’ve only just got my shelf up and trying to find some display steps. When I do organise them, I think I’m going to do them by the actual date/year of the figure attire...no need to worry about the blurred lines of the Eras. Can’t go wrong if you go by the actual year of the attire. And what if a wrestler wore the same attire in different years? Example: Royal Rumble Macho Man wore that attire at the 1991 Rumble and then he wore it again in the 1994 Rumble match. Rare that a figure isn’t from a particular match/PPV but there could always be the odd one. I think Macho’s attire was ‘slightly’ different during those two rumbles? Either way, that figure is for Rumble 1991, comes with the sceptre he attacks warrior with. Goes alongside the flashback warrior from the same event 👌🏻

My personal time line for eras goes as the following...
Pre Hogan era- "Silver Age"
Jan 84- Nov 92- "Golden Age"
Nov 92- Jun 96- "New Generation"
Jun 96- Jun 02- "Attitude Era"
Jun 02- Jun 07- "Ruthless Aggression Era"
Jun 07- Apr 14- "PG Era"
Apr 14- Current- "Reality Era"
Personally I feel like there needs to be a major event that alters the course of the company for the era to change. Like currently people list WWE as in the "New Era" but there's really no difference between today & 2015 except a few name changes.

So I am actually boxing up figures and organizing them that way. I had put up a number of figures on my shelf in my office when I started working from home last March, and now am organizing, bagging, and labelling the figures. Tedious but once done they will be easier to pull and display when I want, as I usually put up a display for my friends who come over to watch Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania each year.
Anyway, here is what I had originally come up with for Eras. As it got closer to current, I wanted to divide them up a bit more, and this is what made sense to me. Honestly, part of it has to do with the number of action figures I have, so that was part of the decision. Note - I have separate stuff for Crockett / WCW / ECW / Independents, so this is just my WWF/WWE eras
Original - All Pre-January 1984 - Ends when Hogan beats Iron Sheik for the title. Golden Age - January 1984 - October 1992 - Ends when Bret Hart wins the Title New Generation - October 1992 - January 1997 - Ends when Shawn Michaels wins the title at the Royal Rumble Attitude Era - January 1997 - April 2001 - Ends at Wrestlemania 2001, a week after WWF buys WCW Ruthless Aggression - April 2001 - Summer 2008 - Ends when the company started their PG era PG Era - Summer 2008 - January 2014 - Ends with birth of WWE network and the rise in NXT's popularity Reality Era - January 2014 - January 2020 - Really this ended with the Covid outbreak. January 2020 - Current
