Omega's mannerisms are really cringe. Am I the only one who thinks he looks ridiculous with all of his over-the-top faces, hand gestures, and excess movements? He simultaneously overexaggerates while looking incredibly bored, like a theme park worker who's been stuck at the job too long. I'm sure someone will be like "that's part of his story" or something but it's not selling to people who are being introduced to him.

Are we not gonna talk about the deer in the headlights look Kenny had waiting to come out for his entrance. He stutter stepped about 3 times, hesitating, not knowing if he should "go."
I popped.

- Cody vs. OC was strangely booked. Best Friends and Arn shouldn't be interfering when they're faces, especially in a match that's face vs. face. Call me old school but I stand by that.
- I'm glad the Shawn Spears match was ten seconds because I didn't want it to be any longer lol.
- Very close to giving up on Miro at this point. Let this be a lesson to anyone who thinks the WWE isn't using someone you like the way you'd like them. This grass ain't greener.
- They need more faces and Fenix fits that perfectly. I feel like they've been building up Lucha Bros splitting up and nobody talks about it so it leaves me questioning whether I'm wrong.
- Didn't know who Leyla Hirsch was but I was impressed. Is she signed or was this just a one off?
- Omega is so much better as a heel and I can't wait until they go full throttle with it.

sonstuds Interference on the faces' behalf has been the major peeve for me. They should generally be good enough that the heels resort to cheap tactics, that's where the Babyface sympathy and heel heat should derive from. Really brought down one of their specials a few months back.

I'll concede that this persona might work overseas, but it is not going to endear him to a mainstream audience here, because there's no humor to it. The girls with the brooms, too...ugh. If he were a fighter, it would be endearing, but his character doesn't work as an alpha in pro-wrestling. Very disappointing, because he's awesome (not as good as PAC, though).

Agree with sonstuds on Miro
Really not enjoying him
Loved the tournament matches though!

I'm not giving up on Miro. I think a lot of people are just bummed that he's not an instant main event guy.
He's had 1 match on tv so far, so it's too early for me to call. I think he's totally fine as a mid card wrestler. Nothing wrong with someone his size being in that role.

Anytime I see Fenix in AEW I post several things along the lines of how I can't wait for them to split. I'm 100% there with you, BROTHER!

I'll continue to say it every week, Fenix should be TNT Champion. Turn it into the most exciting, action packed division in Pro Wrestling. Make the TNT Championship the 2nd coming of the WCW Cruiserweight Championship. To fans my age (35), one of the absolute most memorable parts of Nitro, the most influential even, wasn't nWo, it was the Cruiserweights. TNT brought us that change. TNT as a network, thru WCW, gave them a platform to wow us. Celebrate their greatest contribution.. make the TNT Title a division that pays homage to that. They have enough guys, who do insane flying stuff to make it special and standout even amongst today's landscape where it seems everyone (Wardlow/Cage) can fly.

I'm so down with that, they could push him at any time and it'd work. It'd be great if they used the TNT title as the show opener most weeks (a fun & fast tag match other weeks). He needs to absolutely cut the dangerous spots though. He's had avoidable injuries in AEW and needs to work safer. I think his ceiling is a lengthy AEW title reign, but a while in the TNT title scene wouldn't upset me.

It's the only thing about him that I'd change. I feel like he'd benefit from a manager, similar to RVD with Alfonso (but less whistle). Omega can cut his IDGAF style promo, but when it's time to up the intensity you have the manager clarify things.

In an effort to tie the previous two posts together, I do see Fenix as a World Champion someday, but if he were to elevate the TNT Title in a similar way that RVD did the TV title for ECW, it'd be pretty awesome.
Now, speaking of RVD.. Omega w/ a manager similar to RVD/Fonzie is literally the thing that'd push him over the top (in a good way) to me. Omega has a certain 97/98/99 RVD style/appeal to me, in his build, his "I'm so good" attitude, and how different his moveset is similar to how RVDs was at the time.
Who'd be a good manager though? Dare I say... Dave fn Meltzer? Clad in a Kenny Omega t-shirt, carrying a copy of the WON, and talking about how Omega gets 6 stars daddy?

I think this is a very, very big part of it. I remember when my wife looked over at Ibushi/Okada from WK this year (in what was a freaking phenomenal match) and the first thing she noticed was how overly dramatic Ibushi's facial expressions and selling were. She's watched plenty of WWE and AEW with me, so she's not exactly new to wrestling. We had a small discussion about Japanese culture in general in terms of Manga/Anime, and how traditional the good guy/bad guy roles can be, and how over the top and on the nose that sort of thing can be in Anime. I think Omega fits into that box. The over the top theatrics with his moves, etc, fit in very well with Japanese culture and was a big part of what made him such a huge star in Japan. Whether or not it's really going to click with an American audience as a whole I think remains to be seen. His role in the tag team wasn't really that at all, this is really the first time he's brought out more of his Japanese persona.

I'm legit worried about his main event promos. Don Callis could have been a great pro-sports-ish agent like character for him, but that obviously won't happen.

Too many "UUHs" & UMMs" lol I'd say Tazz, but he's taken. I said Callis, but that won't happen. Maybe Nakazawa if he dropped the comedy and was a Gedo like manager, Taka Michinoku would excel at that too. If they could get back into the country full time, putting Kenny with CIMA and the Stronghearts could be REALLY rad.

Yeah, Omega basically IS a Japanese wrestler. If you don't watch NJPW or aren't familiar with him (as a face and as The Cleaner) then you'll never get him. That IS who he is. What we've seen earlier in AEW is not Kenny. I love his schtick and love him as a heel. His entrance screams Japan right now. One of the best on the entire planet. Someone mentioned Pac above. While Pac might have 5% more talent in the ring, he has zero personality which is why he's never been pushed to the moon. If he could even do a fraction of what else Kenny brings to his matches ... wow.
