Jeremy went live on Instagram last night and discussed a lot. There was a lot going on so I wasn’t taking detailed notes. This is the way he made things sound to me:
-They still considering Hasbro style figures which wouldn’t be realistic for 2021. Emphasized LJNs are easier to do. Said it’s easier to have two of the same type/size of figures on shelves (as in two pegs of Unrivaled figs).
-Liked someone else’s idea of “Unhinged” maybe more than the current “Un” name they are planning.
-Says waves will rotate in the future with Unrivaled one month and Un____ the next.
-He looked over artwork today for a cage match accessory which would be sold separate from the ring (no need to buy multiple rings).
-Expects skin tone issue to be fixed starting in series 3.
-AEW figs coming to Target Spring 2021.

Would buy the cage as long as it was accurate to the AEW version (goes around the whole ring to the floor) and also glad these are going to be available at more than one store. I want this line to be successful

Not saying none of the stuff he claims will happen, I’m just cynical until something tangible is seen

Jeremy strikes me as a Vince Russo type idea guy who needs a Vince McMahon type figure in place to filter through 80% of the stuff that floats from his brain to his mouth.

Yeah, ok Jeremy. More bluster that won't ever be backed up.

While I agree that Jeremy tends to get out in front of his skis pretty often, nothing said here seems all that controversial to me. Since the AEW ring is basically the WCT ring slightly repurposed, a cage seemed pretty inevitable. Great to hear it won't require an additional ring purchase.
The Target info has already been repeated quite a bit. Again, doesn't seem like a huge leap that Target would pick the product up when Walmart is already carrying it, and Target carries a number of Jazwares products.

Man some of you guys just love to whine and complain, lol. He said the skin tone would be fixed and it was fixed in Series 2. Not saying everything's perfect but words clearly backed up by actions there

Wasn't skin tone fixed for Series 2? Is Series 2 still off and it just looks like its fixed if you put it next to Series 1?

I've seen a ton of comparison shots. I think in general he means that a lot of these issues should be cleared up when they switch to the new factory starting with Series 3. He had a long interview with the majors on their twitch the other day and I found it to be super informative. They were really, really unhappy with the first factory they used but couldn't come out and say it right away because they were still counting on them to produce Series 2, and the factory could have easily made them wait longer/stop producing/etc. I know it's not perfect but I'm kinda amazed by some of the tone on here. Mattel elites didn't become good until like Series 12, lol.

If there's anything that was missed or you can add, would love to hear more. But totally agree on the factory related issues. With the delays, some qc issues, etc, it seemed like something was up. I guess we can argue that they never should have used that factory in the first place, but I think it's worth giving credit for the fact that are trying to address issues to give us the best product possible, and are being pretty open about some of the problems they've faced.

I feel like it's just me and you who actually comprehended what Jeremy was saying in that interview about the factories. 2020 has been the toughest year in DECADES for companies who manufacture overseas. Where's the NJPW line? Oh? It's been delayed months you say? Where's that Lucha line I heard about a year ago? Also delayed months you say? The fact AEW was even able to launch a brand new line this year is an accomplishment. Yes, they've run into some big hurdles, but they've been 100% transparent about them when possible. Mattel has NEVER gone into as much detail about their production schedules and factory situations like Jeremy has. There's a reason Bill isn't around here anymore and rarely interacts online outside of big reveal events. Please don't burn that bridge with Jeremy.

The owner of Pro Wrestling Tees was recently run out of a Micro Brawler group because people were throwing a fit because they changed their business model. He was super engaging, answered questions freely, gave a lot of heads up on sales, new figures, etc. Everyone acknowledges there were issues with the launch of the line, and that sucks. But they've obviously been proactive about making changes, and I for one am still looking forward to seeing how the line develops over time.

I mean, that was the basic gist of it. It just really sounds like COVID and the crappy factory really got in the way of everything, and they're hoping the new factory starting with Series 3 alleviates a lot of the issues. He said he couldn't come out and tell us immediately about the factory issues because then the factory would read it and totally screw things up with Series 2. Makes sense to me! lol The video's up on demand, anyone can watch it. I thought it was 1,000 times more informative than the Ringside Q and A with Mattel. It just seems to me like the general tone/feeling around here is way off from what I see everywhere else (both in the real world and dozens of figure groups on Facebook.) Most people like this line and like what we've seen so far, and then there's a few who have some apparent vendetta against Jeremy from his Jakks days lol. I wasn't a Jakks guy at all but AEW Series 2 looks incredible. I stand by what I said -- elites didn't hit their stride until like series 12, and honestly you could argue series 20. I think Series 2 here looks phenomenal, so I'll take it.
