I finally bought a Jimmy Snuka with hope to customize him to barefoot.
My question is.....what era is the jacket from? Is it something he wore in the early 80s? Late 80s/early 90s? Something else?
If anyone who has customized him can share your paint used it would be awesome.

People have used the Kevin Von Erich legs to make barefoot Snuka. I guess you could also use the elite Matt Riddle legs now. You would have to repaint them or use shoe polish? I'm not sure on the polish but others claimed it works. I think the gear is sometime from the early 80s.
Edit: I meant early 90s.

I would assume the jacket is the same time as when he wore long tights and boots in 92/93.

I used Tito Santanas legs since the skin tone matches up perfectly and Matt Riddle's "boot" part of the leg it fits nice just a tad taller. I haven't matched the color yet. How do you "paint" them with the shoe polish? Never heard of that method but interested in trying it.

I assume similar with hot water but is there any other involvement to remove and reattach various parts of the legs like hip joints or knee joints?

I like uskng a hair dryer its way quicker. In this case it was difficult Tito's legs are on ball joints and Snukas legs have that little plastic nub on the hip joint. I guess i got really lucky it was my first time swapping legs because I was able to heat the nub to the point where I was able to put them on Tito's legs and quickly attach them to the Snuka. Everything fell into place. It still has the full range of motion and the legs are tight. I've hear you cant mix and match ball jointed hips and the ones with the nub but i did it and it is perfect. After i got the Riddle just did a "boot" swap now i just need to try to match the skin tone and its done.

Hair dryer or hot water? I hope to use elite matt riddle legs entirely.

No need to take the crotch apart. Just the whole leg assembly. Snuka takes a little more care cause he has those nubs on the part that connects to the crotch you need to save those because if you put regular ball joint legs on it they will be loose and dangly. I personally use a hair dryer its way more fast than hot water and you need to get it really hot to remove snukas legs. But watch out to not point they haor dryer directly for too long there is the chance of deforming the plastic though its never happened to me.

If you cut those socket joints off you end up with a ball joint

If you cut those socket joints off you end up with a ball joint In my case I tried that and i guess the hole the ball joints are supposed to go into are bigger and caused the legs to be really loose. I reattached the sockets and its good and tight. Maybe it was just mine or maybe i did something wrong i didnt look for any instructions. Honestly I just guessed my way through it and it worked.

If you use some hot water those shoes should slide right off.

I tried last night to heat both figures in water and they pulled off at the mid thigh, not at the hip joints. It left the small section of each leg that looks like part of boxer briefs.
How do I remove the entire leg without leaving that small section?

How do I remove the entire leg without leaving that small section? Pull the thigh down off again as you did previously. You should see a seam on the upper leg segment where the two halves get glued together. Heat the figure, and apply pressure with a box cutter along that seam. It should go through with little to no resistance - like a knife through cold butter. That will open up that upper thigh piece, revealing the ratchet joint. Some people trim the plastic nubs on tip before attaching a ball joint leg, others heat the part and muscle the ball joint into place. There should be a couple of youtube tutorials if you want to see a step-by-step before you give it a try.

The first figure is 2010 jimmy snuka and the second figure is elite matt riddle. I wasnt sure if newly released figures had ratchet joints too or if it was just the older figures. I wanted to keep the matt riddle legs all the way up to the upper thigh piece. If I did this on the riddle figure do I superglue the two halves back together? I tried to watch YouTube videos and they are hard to watch. I couldn't find the exact video I was looking for. Most were super nerds with annoying voices and were unfocused and rambling. I miss pre youtube video era where there would be handwritten steps and pictures of each step. I just want to see what a ratchet joint and split seam looks like etc. So I don't ruin either figure. Thanks for helping me out.

You just cut the 2 extensions off the rubber sockets and it was loose? That’s odd because if you just cut the two extensions off the rubber sockets they should make them just like the ball-joints. And they should be any looser than if it was an actual ball-joint. Also as for paint I used brown shoe polish on Keven’s legs and it matched up with Snuka’s tone quite nicely.
