We have been celebrating the best of Kane alot on this forum lately. However, when referring to the big red machine we can't ignore some of the bad. The mayor is a 7 time winner of the Observer's worst feud of the year award. So let's see which of his rivalry's Wfigs thinks takes the cake.

Voted Rybotch because anything Rybotch is garbage.
It also did suck.

For me it has to be vs. Hunter in 02. As mentioned in another thread, that feud put a type of chink in his armour we just hadn't seen with the character yet. And sadly, as noted with the rest of the list, stuff like this would continue to happen. The unmasking offered some rehab briefly, but it was following this, that the most damage would be done. I just wasn't as big of a fan after the Katie Vick stuff, even less so after 03. But 1997-2002 Kane will always be one of my all time favorites.

Voted Rybotch because anything Rybotch is garbage. It also did suck. It spawned a very bad match on pay per view. Aswell as this.... Who woulda thought the monster Kane would not only become corporate, but also a concessions worker at a hot dog stand.

Vs Shane McMahon. Also it isnt even f*cking close. The damage this feud done is absolutely incredible. Its immeasurable.
Its bad enough that Shane runs Kane close in one match & only loses it because Shane makes a mistake but he gets to do it a 2nd time and take him to the limit. Insanity on every conceivable level....
They give Kane this big build up to unmasking. RVD is (logically) sacrificed to him immediately. They have a fresh new heel.....and Shane O Mac takes him to the limit. The end.
After this the crowd is meant to buy that Kane is a credible threat to Goldberg....the same Goldberg that's beaten HHH clean twice and murdered the entire Elimination Chamber at Summerslam only to be stopped by a sledgehammer blow.
Insanity. Its another example of how damaging Vince/Stephanie's partnership run on creative is. Crazy. This new version of Kane had serious legs....and they flushed it. He was ruined after it.

I thought it would kill the mystique plus I didn't get why he had makeup around his eyes and the hair was just a wig. I think it could have been done very differently. Also the Katie Vick storyline was beyond disgusting. It is the reason I stopped watching wrestling almost completely at the time. I did tune in a few times in 2010 and 2011 for guys like Bret Hart returning, John Cena, CM Punk and Zach Ryder and a few times for TNA but other than that my interest just wasn't there anymore. I don't blame Glenn Jacobs for the Katie Vick angle being so sick, I blame HHH and Vince. Glenn Jacobs now is a man who is successful outside of wrestling so it's probably pretty telling about him personally as well as HHH and Vince personally as they never found success outside of wrestling. As much as I didn't like the unmasking, I am glad for Glenn's sake. I feel if he never took the mask off it would have been much harder for him to be accepted by the non wrestling community. Taking the mask off allowed for the chance to make a name for himself and really be able to show people who he is.

The character was getting stale but the route they ended up going was probably the wrong direction like you mentioned. We got to see some great promos though. This and the facials, the way we finally got to see Kane emote added alot to the character. Vince and Glenn both knew they could make it work but it was just the booking and a fair chunk of storylines that took things down a notch.

He was ruined after it. 100% this. Like to put it in context? HHH feuded with him 1 year prior when he was the WHC...HHH didn't look half as good against Kane as Shane did. That in itself without ANY of the other nonsense makes it ludicrous enough. Insane. F*ckin Goldberg sold better for Kane than Shane did. Mental.

Man, when you have them listed up there with the years it's a harrowing reminder that most of Kane's run has been terrible angles.

The fact the Kane character lasted as long as it did with such horrible story lines and feuds just goes to show what being connected to the Undertaker can do for ones career.
Kane vs. Imposter Kane was the absolute worse. Nobody came out of that better than they went in to it.
Any Kane vs. Mark Henry program wasn't good either. Or Kane vs. Big Show program.
Kane really got a lot more out of that gimmick than he should have when looking back at everything!

I was going to vote for X-Pack, but Shane was far more worse.

The storyline where Snitsky killed Kane and Lita's baby is often brought up as one of the most cringeworthy storylines that WWE had done. I liked it. Everyone liked when Snitsky punted the Baby

Comes down to Katie Vick and “forcing” himself on Lita.
Both were terrible but I went with Katie Vick. The guy who was supposedly burned to a crisp in a fire and locked in Paul Berear’s basement for 20 years all of a sudden was going to wrestling school, getting drunk at parties, and supposedly getting lucky with Katie (but we’re never told whether it was before or after she was dead).
It’s crazy how long the character has lasted considering how many terrible storylines he’s been sort of.

I voted vs fake Kane, but should have voted vs Shane. Kane was supposed to be this badass monster after losing the mask yet has a competitive feud with a non-wrestler because said non wrestler is a McMahon. 2003 wwe(especially on the raw side) sucked! By 2003, the McMahons hogging tv time was tiresome. Hell it should ended after the Monday night wars ended!
