Nashville Predators 2007 Franchise Head Coach: Barry Trotz Location: Nashville Tennessee Arena: Nashville Arena Captain: Jason Arnott Game - NHL 08. Difficulty - Allstar. Period Length - 5 minutes -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After compiling a franchise best record of 51-23-8 last season as well as establishing team records for points (110) and goals (274), this upcoming campaign is a pretty optimistic one. However, there are quite a few changes this year. What's Changed? Quite a bit, really. In fact, the Preds' roster has probably changed more than any other Western Conference team. They lose quite a few of those face of the franchise types in Vokoun, Kariya, Timonen and Hartnell, and for that reason, many are picking the Preds to sink to the bottom of the pack of playoff-bound clubs. Yet, even with all of the exits, there are a lot of solid producers here, youngsters who are more than capable of playing bigger minutes. Who's on the Hook? With Steve Sullivan on the shelf to start the season, Jason Arnott's been named captain and he'll need a bigger year than last, and David Legwand's another veteran up front who they'll need to build on his breakout campaign of last year. The real pressure, however, is going to be all Mason's. He's been a top-notch goaltender in the minors, but this is his first real shot at full-time duty in the NHL, and without much of a safety net, he's going to have to shine. They'll be difficult to score on as long as Mason holds the fort and there's enough firepower here to possibly even be competitive in the playoffs. While still a talented, well-coached team with an impressive group of youngsters ready to shine, the loss of key veteran leaders like Timonen, Kariya and Vokoun have the possibility of hurting the Predators chances of making the postseason, which would be a tremendous step back for a team that was on the right path. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- thanks to K.J.V for the outlook. yeah also remember nhl 08 hasnt had roster updates and downloads yet, so. peter forsberg and some other players are still on the team.

Game 1 - Thursday October 4th 2007 Colorado: 6 - Nashville: 3 Preds PP Not Enough In Season OpenerNASHVILLE (AR)
The Predators opened their 2007-2008 season Thursday night in Nashville against the Colorado Avalanche. This season brings much hope to the city of Nashville much as last year.
Wojtek Wolski opened the scoring midway through the first to give the Avs the lead. Ryan Suter followed replied 11:03 into the first with his first goal of the season on the power-play. The Predators powerplay was a perfect 2-2 on this night but that proves not to matter after the Avalanches strong offensive play in last nights game. Marek Zidlicky gave the Preds a slim 2-1 lead 2 minutes later with his first goal, also on the powerplay. Before the Period was over Brad Richardson tied the game up with his first also this season.
Joe Sakic and Paul Stastny gave the Avalanche a 4-2 lead in the second with their tally markers, Sakics coming :55 seconds into the first. Jean-Pierre Dumont came out early in the third trying to get his team back into it. "We were just sloppy. that's all." Arnott said of his teams effort. Arnott, who went pointless, was a -2 on the night. Ryan Smyth and Milan Hejduk each added a goal in the third period to put the game out of reach at 6-3.
Chris Mason was pulled in the third period with 7 minutes left after allowing 6 goals on 23 shots. "I don't know what to say. I don't know what happend tonight" Mason said after his less than pleasing performance. Pakka Rinne came into releive Mason in the third stopping all 5 shots he saw. Head Coach Barry Trotz was quoted saying "We need to get out there with better defence and get more pucks to the net, we didn't get set up in the slot enough. We can't be playing like that for much longer. Or else we're not getting anywhere this season".

Game 2 - Saturday October 6th 2007 Dallas: 7 Nashville: 0 Struggles continue for PredsNASHVILLE (AR)
Nashville continued their season last night against the Dallas Stars. In a disastorious game, Nashville head coach Barry Trotz has said there is no need to panic yet. "The season just started. We're two games in, nothing to be worried about yet.". Trotz also added that they are looking for another man to play on the top line with Forsberg.
Dallas opened the scoring early with a wrister right past the glove of Mason 1:44 into the first. Nashvilles defence looked promising in the first and second periods. Dallas blew it wide open in the third with 6 more goals. Lehtinen, Modano, and Miettenen each added goals in the third period with Lehtinen adding 3 of his own.
Dallas' Marty Turko recorded his first shutout of the season. "It was great, the guys were playing great all night infront of me, letting me see the puck, they let me do my job while they did theirs" Turko added.
While Nashvilles offense could not get rolling Saturday, reports have been out that Nashville and Toronto and also Montreal are in talks of a reported deal.

Game 3 - Wednesday October 10th 2007 Nashville: 0 St. Louis: 3 Moves may need to be done says GMST. LOUIS (AR)
Making a move this early in the season may not be a good idea, but Nashville GM and Head Coach sure think it may be. Following a 7-0 loss in the hands of The Dallas Stars, Nashville GM and Head Coach states moves will most likely be made.
The Predators headed to St. Louis last night hoping their luck might change. That didn't happen. Things looked promising for Chris Mason early in the game. There was no scoring through the first or second period and it was looking to be a one goal game. Martin Rucinsky opened up the scoring 2:16 into the third period to give the Blues the slim 1-0 lead. Peter Forsberg came into the zone midway through the stanza on the breakaway and was tripped, thus the penalty shot. He failed to score on the penalty shot, which left the Predators still one goal down. At 11:16 of the third period Rucinsky lofted his second goal over the head of goaltender Mason giving the Blues a 2-0 lead. Peter Forsberg was coming through centre ice and was crushed by St. Louis Blue Peter Sejna. Forsberg, being helped off the ice, did not return to the game and was sidelined day-to-day with a sprained wrist. With 1:06 left in the third Nashville tried desperatly to get on the board and with the attempt pulled goaltender Mason. Paul Kariya sealed the deal with his empty net goal. Manny Legace recorded his first shutout of the season making 17 saves.
Nashville forward Steve Sullivan was heard after the game expressing his opinion of the ways of the team. "I don't know what's going on, we just can't get anything going right now. We have to figure something out."

Game 4 - Thursday October 11th 2007 Pheonix: 3 Nashville: 2 What is going on?NASHVILLE (AR)
"I don't know.". That's what Head Coach Barry Trotz had to say of his teams performance. Nashville, sporting an 0-3 record to start the 2007 - 2008 NHL Season, headed into Pheonix Thursday night to try and get things going. Before the game, goaltender Christobal Huet was aquired from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Chris Mason.
Nashville came out strong in the first half against Pheonix. Coming to an early 2-0 lead before the first period was over. Alexander Radulov and Martin Gelinas both scored in the first five minute of the game. Things were starting to look good for Nashville (0-3) looking for their first win of the season. Down to the last minute of play, Pheonix pulled their goalie and took the chance. Patrick Fischer slid the puck through the pads of Huet to get the Coyotes within one at 19:09 of the third. Off the faceoff the Coyotes rushed into the zone and set up, with their goalie pulled, and scored. Tying the game at 19:28 of the third was Travis Roche. Then, the unthinkable. Pheonixs' Steven Reinprecht moved in on the breakaway and was tripped up by the defenseman. At 19:47, Reinprecht was awarded the penalty shot. He scored. The emotion on the Nashville bench was heartbreaking. "That was my fault, I hit his skate out from under him, it was bad luck. That's all." says Predators defenceman Marek Zidlicky. Huet, recorded 18 saves in the loss.
Nashvilles bad luck continues to dread them. "We're doing something." Trotz was heard saying in the locker room.

Game 5 - Saturday October 13th 2007 Calgary: 2 Nashville: 1 What else can go wrongNASHVILLE (AR)
Right when you think this team is going to win. They don't. "Let's do something, We're playing really pathetic right now. It's disgusting." Those were the harsh words of forward Steve Sullivan.
This game started out like a few of the others, no scoring for the first bit. Martin Gelinas was awarded a penalty shot at 11:32 of the second period, but failed to score. Darcy Hordichuk gave the Predators the lead at 4:08 of the third. Christobal Huet stood on his head all night long. Facing 27 shots in the first two periods, not giving up one. In the last minute of play Calgary goaltender Mikka Kipprusoft was pulled for the extra attacker. Nothing was working out for them and it started to look like Nashville was headed towards their first win of the season. with 6.5 seconds left Gelinas missed a pass at the blue line which resulted in an icing. The faceoff came back into the Nashville zone. Nashville won the faceoff, but was quickly grabbed by Calgary forward Jarome Iginla. Iginla passed the puck back to the blue line hoping for a desperation shot from his defencemen. Craig Conroy got that. Shot the puck, and slid in between Rinnes' pads with 0.8 seconds left. There was nothing in overtime and this game went to a shootout. In the shootout there was no scoring until Calgarys Adrian Aucoin scored on the fifth attempt. Marik Zidlicky could not follow up with the goal which resulted in a Calgary win. Yet another tough loss for Nashville.
ESPN sports reports that Nashville is now in talks with both St. Louis and Pittsburgh.

Hertz says it's unacceptable
No, not just the play of his team this year, but those comments from forward Steve Sullivan. "Those comments were not appropriate. They are not accepted and tolerated. Things will be done." There are no reports as to if Sullivan will be fined or not, but things are shaping up to be disciplinary actions against Sullivan for his comments after Saturdays 2-1 shootout loss to Calgary.

Yep, all-star is pretty tough. I was getting my ass kicked the first two games, but once I learned the controls and how to properly set up shots, I started doing pretty good.
Of course, I'm playing on PS2, are you playing on the 360? It's probably way different.

Damn, It sucks that you're losing so far but I remember with my last franchise on NHL07, I was losing 10 games in a row with the Islanders.
You'll get out of the slump soon though. But look at it this way though, ever since you got Huet, the scores are very close.
