The ironic part was that person ended up buying the figure and posted about it but whenever anyone has called him out on it, he ignored them. As far as I remember, he never acknowledged he's the reason Bill initially left and never apologized for what ended up being an ignorant comment over a bad image. Didn’t he buy like 6 of them? IIRC, he did buy more than 1, so mattel won in the end.

What happened and what was it like for those of us not here at the time? (FWIW, it is a pretty bad figure -- one of Mattel's worst Stings)

Ringside (or someone else, I don’t remember it’s been 5 years) revealed the white background test shots of elite 39, and honestly it wasn’t a great set. Not bad but not great either, Bulldog & Godfather were great and we got the new IC belt but otherwise meh. But the Sting in that set was only the second or third elite Sting, was a WWE Sting, had a molded on T-shirt, and I think there was something off with the face of the prototype. So anyway, somebody, and we’re not naming names but it was Lorenzo Alcazar, said that it was a terrible figure and the worst figure ever and that Bill was lazy and should be fired. Naturally as this is the internet the thread devolved into factions of people defending Bill, criticizing Bill, and a few people in the middle. The thread is gone now but so is our interaction with Bill. It was ridiculous btw; completely unnecessary and not even real criticism, just attacking Bill for no reason over a single mediocre figure. The worst part was the dude who started the thread bought the Sting figure and I’m pretty sure he bought more than one. That said Bill later went and acted very childishly towards one of the mods here who was posting lineups that were being leaked by actual retailers, basically just posting information that was freely available on Amazon. There’s also the whole over leaked pictures of prototypes, which I’ve said my piece on enough and don’t feel like going into another time.

There’s also the whole over leaked pictures of prototypes, which I’ve said my piece on enough and don’t feel like going into another time. This keeps getting brought up and it's really funny how exaggerated everyone's memory of it was. It seems like people who never even saw the thread but HEARD of the thread keep making it sound worse than it was. A) I never personally attacked Bill. I simply asked if it was lack of effort or ability that led to the Sting figure looking like that because in 2015 I felt like the TNA Sting figures from a decade earlier (both Jakks and Toy Biz) had better scans and also had not cut the corner of casting the entire head in white plastic instead of having the plastic be skin tone and actually painted the face paint on like every other Sting figure in existence. From there, OTHER people began to get rude to Bill, but since it was my thread, I guess I take the blame. B) Bill continued to post on here for 3 years until a Mod posted a picture from AMAZON.COM. This wasn't a stolen figure or a leaked figure or anything anybody did illegally or in bad taste. The figure was for sale on AMAZON and Bill flipped out and quit the board. So I didn't "run Bill off the board" as a lot of people like to claim. I think people should read the actual thread and not what they heard a guy who heard from a guy remember what somebody else might have thought I said. forum.wrestlingfigs.com/thread/326011/mdt-lack-effort-ability?page=1Never insulted Bill. Never called for him to be fired. Simply critiqued the figure, and others took it out of control. Maybe we can put this all to rest at this point.
