I'm just watching Wrestlemania of 96, Shaws just won the big one and has celebrated in the ring as his theme plays and replays (thrice) and it got me thinking he should have changed his theme after DX split in 06 or whenever it was.
I can understand them keeping it when he very first returned to face Triple H, as a nostalgia thing, he was only meant to do the series with Haitch, and the fact he was fairly young at the time. It didnt seem "out of place"
But it's kinda embarrassing when he comes out now bald as crap, with his wonky ass eye. I do like Shawn but his theme makes me cringe these days, especially if someone is watching with me, but I'm aware it'd be weird for him to come out on raw to a different theme now.
So my question is,
Should they have given Shawn a new theme, that doesnt reference Shawn as a "sexy boy" or "boy toy" (the woman he would be the "boy toy" for would have to be in her 80s at this point)

Never, never, never. That song gave him so much heat in the 90s. And is one of the most ICONIC pro wrestling themes, recognized outside of wrestling as well. Some things just shouldn't be changed.

Always irritated me that he used DX's theme at WrestleMania 23 instead of "Sexy Boy". At least do a half-and-half, come on! A major World Championship match and he's still shilling merch for a group that had nothing to do with the build.
Also OP, old women need attention too.

That would be like Hogan, Warrior, Stone Cold, coming out to different music. It is just part of the gimmick. I agree. It never felt right to see Hogan coming out to Voodoo Child honestly. |

Shawn should have used the Vince McMahon version off WWF Vol. 2 CD.
Hearing Vince bellow out the lyrics, "I think I'm cute, I know I'm sexy" is just too good to not be used!

I mean yes most men in they're upper thirties now to mid forties coming out to this song in the late 00's written in the early 90's could be akward. Shawn stayed in shaped. Shawn kept that appearance up. Like I mean he aged pretty well for good time; he didn't really start looking a lot older till he came in 07. And I think it was just that scruff he kept. Shawn had this timeless act to him; and he still looked like that young guy. Just more refined and more mature. And he had good character progression. It's this timeless act; like Motley Crue or some beloved band coming back for return tour run. I think it fit right; and rolled right. Maybe a remix; or some modifying I guess. But I never saw a huge issue. I even really liked DX's 2006 run; and the spins on two men in they're later 30's Shawn now 41 doing stuff like they're in they're 20's again. I think some things truly never get old.
I think now; Shawn especially with how much he aged now. Maybe. Maybe just coming out to the DX theme?

There are some wrestlers who's entrance music is as big as their character. Shawn is one of them. Imagine Ric Flair coming out to rock music or Stone Cold without the glass shattering. I just wouldn't work.
In 05 Shawn switched his tights and stopped wearing his entrance vests so a different theme tune as well would've been way too much.

Always hated his theme. Should have kept Sherri's or gotten another female to sing it. Him singing it about himself...so douchey. And I agree with the op that whenever he comes out nowadays is so cringy. The baseball cap doesn't do him any favors either. They should have realized he was getting older & at least change somelyrics awhile back. Now unfortunately it's too late.
