Two big guys, which Vince loves. i am surprised they both didnt get a quick main event run and fed to Warrior and Hogan
Rumor is Warlord was gonna work with Warrior and Barbarian with Hogan
ANy reason why not?
I felt like Barbarian vs Hogan could have been a lot of fun
Barbarian was not that bad of a worker. His clothesline from the turnbuckle was awesome!

They teased on PTW post Mania VI Barb going after the Warrior but it was dropped quick. Warlord was also teased to go after Hogan for the belt in 91 but again nothing ever came of it. Couldnt see either of em getting big PPV matches but they couldve had TV matches for sure.

If they were to do it I think switching their opponents would have been the better way to go. Warlord/Hogan and Barbarian/Warrior but I honestly don’t think either pairing of them would have sold out arenas.

Warlord and Barbarian did a shoot interview a while back and stated that when they were split up, Vince said that Barbarian was supposed to get a run with the Ultimate Warrior and Warlord was supposed to get a run with Hogan. They didn't say why this never happened, it just didn't happen. Vince is known to be high on people for a while then, for some weird reason, he just sours on them. Sometimes, it seems that Vince says he always has big ideas for people only for nothing to pan out as Vince said they would. It's possible, that Vince is just saying things to make people go along with what he wants but never plans to give them what was planned. I guess, to give Vince some credit, it is possible he has big plans for some people but timing doesn't always work out or something better comes along (either a storyline or another performer). For instance, it was said that Vince told Bad News Brown that he was going to make him the first black world heavyweight champion. Vince could have really meant it but, then the Mega Power storyline gets going and is really over that maybe plans change. For instance, I could have seen Savage lose the title to Bad News Brown at RR89 only for Hogan to win it at WM5, but, with how hot the storyline was with the Mega Powers, it made more sense for Savage/Hogan to wrestle at WM5 for the title. It's possible that they were going to push Bad News as champion to a later date, but then, Warrior gets really hot and they go with Warrior. It's possible that if they kept building Bad News strong that he could have been the one to beat the Warrior at RR91 for the belt then lose the title to Hogan at WM7 or SSL91, but then the Iraq war gets going and Vince decides to go with Sarge. After this, it just doesn't seem likely for Bad News to be champion.

Warlord did well for his career when he got a bit smaller and changed his name to "Stone Cold" Steve Austin though!

Neither guy had the promo skills to talk fans into the feud but you had two guys that could like Earthquake and Rude and they both were much better than Warlord and Barbarian. Plus fans were used to seeing them as guys lower than the main event scene. Demolition may have been main event if they had split up at first but not Powers of Pain. I think a Summerslam with them in the main event makes more sense so then you can save Earthquake and Rude (if he stayed) for bigger PPVs.

I'd imagine it had more to do with not wanting to compete with the legacy of LOD and Demolition.

A brief run with either of those guys feuding with Hogan and Warrior would have been decent. A quick program wouldn't have been bad it would make them seem like the took on all challengers. How many times did Koko B Ware, Jimmy Snuka, Tito Santana need to be fed to these guys to make them look credible on the feature matches and PPVs, they were really going over the jobbers on Superstars, and Challenge. Warrior did get into a mini feud with Shango. One thing Bret and Michaels as IC and world were taking on all guys regardless of the main runs, they had the side runs which made them seem better.

I know at WM VI. Barbarian still had his PoP get up but never recall if Warlord wrestled any TV matchups before the makeover. I know he wasn't on a PPV with it because he had the new look at Summerslam 90.

Yes Vince is a genius to have the vision of obliterate the territories and taking the brand globally. And a high risk-taker to put all his chips in WrestleMania. But he's also missed some ideas. WWE could have boasted Bad News Brown as first black champion. They try to highlight the Soul Patrol, but it's not the same. But I agree, just like "card subject to change" pushes are subject to change too - everything happening at the time needs to be considered, both internally and externally, and Vince has to run with what will make the most money.

The WWF could have potentially gotten off with one of the feuds but not both at the same time. Warrior v Barbarian at SSlam 90, with Hogan v Earthquake pushed to the main event of the card may have worked (although that would have been at the expense of Rude). Heenan already had history with the Warrior, so his new charge going after the big belt wouldn’t have been a stretch.
Alternatively, have the Barbarian as an enforcer type for the Heenan family and could have been next in line, after Rude.

I could see Barb vs Warrior for the belt at that SNME during the Fall. They can play it up as Bobby's desperation to get the top gold in his family.
