In 2015 when WWE started using LED Boards on the aprons for some reason the ring posts gained an extra foot or so in height but wasn't actually a part of the ring post but rather basically a cap for it. We stopped seeing this when the WWE started using LED Boards on the ring posts in 2016. So in that year or so when there was an LED Board on the apron but not LED covers on the ring posts, why were those things on top of the posts and what purpose did they serve? Also sidenote what do you guys think of LED lights on the ring? I personally like the one LED Board on the apron facing hardcam but the LED on the posts looks weird as frick to me.

I always thought they have should have used the large space on the posts for guys to stand on and jump off more often. Like Velveteen Dream could do his elbow from there instead of the top rope for example.

I’m pretty sure for a while they were putting cameras in the posts similar to the way the NFL has them in the pylons in the end zone. Not sure if thats still the case but I remember that was when they changed.

They maybe used the angle in 2 matches from what I remember and it was awful It’s probably just for stylistic reasons now

Not a fan of the LED lights on the ring at all. Everything feels more bright and overproduced than it needs to be.

Yeah, it's honestly one of my biggest problems with WWE's production over the last 5 or 6 years. They're trying to make it all seem fancy and show off the bigger budget compared to other companies, but the LED vomit all over everything makes it feel even more sterile and... almost more childish? I don't know. It's just very off-putting to me. I think NXT's more stripped down production gets it right for the most part.

I think wrestling should have a grungy and rough aesthetic. I can't stand the overreliance on LEDs and what not. I like a nice LED minitron and that's about it. Honestly I prefer the projector minitrons so keep LEDs out of my rasslin lmao.

i think they were also doing the 360 cameras in the post at one point. They probably stopped after Cesaro smashed his face off of one.

I always have had a strong hatred for the LED posts. They just look stupid and to flashy. I hate the current arenas; they look way to flossed up. Way to bright; to much glitz and glamor. I mean it takes away from the idea of Raw/SD being two different shows with two different feelings. I miss seeing varieties in the arenas. Hell; I'll even take back the early days of the HD set in 2008. I don't know it's just very odd looking. I don't mind LED panels on the ring that faces toward the main camera. It's good question why they raised the ring posts; it l just looked odd and stupid.

A large reason why I don't look back at wrestling from 2008 onwards fondly (besides the fact it wasn't as good) was due to the generic looking stages. It took a lot away from the presentation even though they techincally made it better. I'd take unique sets and stages ahead of flashy led screens and lights everytime.

Yeah, like it's been said, probably for ring post cameras. I'm not a fan of the LED ring look either, but it's something we all have to get used to with Vince & Dunn always trying to evolve the production. I'm sure if they could do it safely they'd even have light-up color change ring ropes. lol

Everything else is excessive in my opinion. Plus I miss seeing the actual ring posts.

Honestly I ing hate wrestling being in HD, that's my big thing. I think it's too flashy and too high tech when wrestling should be rough and tough looking. I feel like I already said this but it needs to be said more.

I like the LED lights on the poll not on the apron, its too much.
Thats still not as worst for me as when Smackdown or Raw over saturated the arena with the live audience, with blue and red color lights. WAY TOO MUCH!
