Festive greetings to all.
Done my best to research this before asking on here but I need to know whether I can open and display my HOF Sgt Slaughter or whether I may have to get rid of it.
Does anyone know what year/event the attire is based on? I’m worried it’s actually old man Slaughter as opposed to 80s or early 90s?
Closest I can find is either Rumble 91 when he beats Warrior for the title (but he has no hat, he wears a headdress instead and he wears red elbow pads which the figure doesn’t have) or there is one Google picture with him without elbow pads as per the figure and he’s waving a US flag but I’ve no idea where it’s from??
Does anyone know exactly what year or event it’s from? I really don’t want to have to get rid of it so I’m hoping it is an 80s/early 90s Slaughter and not from when he came back for cameos as an old man in 2003 which I only recently realised the slammy basic figure is from 😩

It’s been his standard wrestling attire ever since turning face again. It’s pretty much all he’s worn from 1992 through today.

I'm pretty sure it's early 90s.

He wore that gear going back to his time in the AWA in the 80s.
The basic figure you mentioned is an homage to his GI Joe fame in the 80s as well, so again not a modern look.

If you really don’t want to get rid of a figure, don’t. If you like it you like it, even if it doesn’t fit in your own predetermined time frame.

I can’t get a picture right now, but the slammy basic states 2003 on the back, you can kind of tell too on the scan, it is different to the HOF which gives me hope....I’m a little concerned that nobody seems to definitively know where it’s from though 😬

It seems to be from the time he returned in 1990, this was the attire he wore for this time period, minus the elbow pads, and before 1991 when he started wearing the headdress or beret and more of the Iraqi uniform. It seems to be from some promotional pictures from the time, he's wearing this attire, hat and whistle too, but no elbow pads. He did wear this attire when he turned face in late 1991 as well, but he usually had red/white/and blue wrist bands instead, and sometimes a different shirt than the camo.

Thanks, I’ve seen that promo pic but couldn’t find where it was from, certainly seems earlier 90s just couldn’t find a date and was hoping to find a picture of him in the ring. Best I could find was this...assume it’s post WM7 face turn?? No idea on the event though?

🤣🤣🤣 Do you like it? Yes? Display it. You're welcome. I collect mania 1 - 2002. Nostalgia is important to me and I also display in order of the year of the attire (makes a cool display and avoids the whole ‘what ‘era’ is this figure in’ so needed to know where to put it. There are hundreds of awesome figures that Mattel has done of newer guys but I don’t really watch the modern product, don’t really enjoy it so figures of the modern product don’t mean anything to me. Looks like 92 is where HOF Sgt will go!

Similarly I have my figures based on certain eras sectionized in bins so 80s Hogan will not be placed with the current roster. But then I also have a few shoe boxes where I would place my multiples of Undertakers, Brets and Austins which range from all eras without having a cut off. It's just interesting how you would eliminate a legend based on the era the figure represents.

70’s - early/mid 80’s he wore it minus the t-shirt. Late 80’s pretty much until he retired he wore it with the t-shirt. Exception being when he was the Iranian sympathizer.

I LOVE the HOF Slaughter! It reminds me of the G.I. Joe days
