Man, I was thinking earlier, if only Andre the giant could have held on for just 1 more year as an active competitor, we could have seen him V Undertaker staring at each other at the 91 royal rumble. Andre V Earthquake at summerslam 91, which I think was the original plan anyway because they had Earthquake assault Andre's leg on an episode of superstars a few weeks before - and then at survivor series, I'm guessing it would have been team Andre V team quake.
I know he was in pain, and could barely walk, but damn if he could have just held fire for 1 more year....... its a crime he couldnt wrestle in 1991

It wouldve been a sight to see him and Taker interact at the Rumble that year.We were close as he was advertised in the early build for it.

Andre vs Taker would have been interesting, but how does Taker go over? Can't tombstone him.

Andre was still active through 91 and 92 in Japan. He had 44 matches in 1992, though they were all tags and 6-man matches and he barely did anything. A 1-on-1 with anyone probably wouldn't have been possible since the 80's, But there's definitely a way they could have protected him in tag matches to put over some of the younger big men.
I assume the money wasn't there compared to what he was making in Japan.

Much respect in that regard.

Wasn’t he supposed to wrestle for Herb Abrams?

Wasn’t he supposed to wrestle for Herb Abrams? From DSOTR, Andre did appear on one of their shows and Abrams bragged about signing him but things didn't work out.

Unfortunately, I don't think any of those matches would have been good. He was having a hard time by the end of 1989, all of his matches since then were pretty much tag team matches. Though, had he been healthy, some of these matches would have been fun. I could see him having interactions with the Undertaker in the Royal Rumble, then having a match at WM7. After that, I could see him having a match with the Earthquake, maybe around Summer Slam. I could see Andre & Tugboat vs Earthquake and Dino. Had Tugboat turned on Andre, I think that would have been bigger than him turning on the Bushwackers. Had they done this, and Andre been slightly healthy, imagine Andre being the replacement for Savage (who was the replacement for Sid) at the Survivor Series 1991; Andre, Bossman, and LOD vs Jake, IRS, and the Natural Disasters.

I would have loved to see him in the 1992 Royal Rumble. Have him come back for one last shot at the WWF Title. He could stand in the corner and just chop and punch. Maybe toss a Virgil or Skinner out and then ultimately get tossed by someone like Undertaker or Sid....Get a standing ovation as he waves to the crowd and walks to the back.
As great at the '92 Rumble was, and I personally believe it was the greatest of all time, I do wish they would have replaces some of the tag team guys/lower mid card with bigger names even if it was one offs like Andre The Giant or Ultimate Warrior.

I was going to post the same thing after reading Nivro's post, Flair's reaction and facial expressions would have been great. They would have needed to show Heenan's face as well, that would have been great. Picture that Flair spot when he's alone in the ring and instead of Piper out comes Andre. Just imagine Bobby's reaction on commentary. I want to re-book the Rumble now minus Sags & Repo Man and the addition of Andre & Warrior lol I would have kept in Repo, maybe get rid of Volkoff or Hercules.

I wonder if Vince promised Andre a rumble win to get him back after originally signing with UWF. Andre's time with UWF was short but it wasn't as "blink and you miss it" as Dark Side made it out to be. He did the promo with Lou Albano calling out John Studd so there had to be plans plus I think he did an in ring appearance. I mentioned on another site that the 1990 Dec. WWF magazine had Andre and Honkyonk slated but by time January 1991 issue rolled out it was a mystery slot (eventually Tito who wasn't originally scheduled). Also Honky was still pictured in the 1991 Jan. magazine along Valentine in black hair. I think Valentine was briefly released because the official program still had the mystery spot but also had Buddy Rose (replaced by Valentine) and Honky (replaced by Knobs). It would have been cool to see Buddy get a PPV appearance. Given that they made a special deal about Andre returning it's a shame it didn't happen. I wonder if there were no plans for him to win but he couldn't go over the top so he couldn't appear.

I always had it in mind that Andre would face Taker at WM7. Whilst the tombstone wouldn’t have been an option, Taker slamming the Giant would have been a great visual, with different implications from Hogan slamming Andre. The commentators could have bigged it up so when it came to facing Hogan for the belt, it would have an added layer.
And in years to come, imagine the streak starting with a victory over one of the biggest legends ever in the sport.
The set up would have been at the Rumble, with, say, Andre legitimately eliminating the Deadman and Taker coming back in illegally to eliminate the Giant.

Line from Heenan on commentary!
