He’s certainly not in the Hogan, Austin, Rock, Cena category.
But he’s been a top star for over 15 years, and that’s rare. So he’s probably in that second tier with HHH, Michaels, Flair, Bret etc.
For me personally, he wouldn’t be in my top 20 or even top 50 favourites though. Never been a huge Orton fan.

Randy Orton has 14 WWE / World Heavyweight Championship Title Reigns...and he's still going. When it's all said and done, I hope the Apex Predator gets numbers 15, 16, and 17...with the Universal Championship Title Belt, no matter what color the strap is by the time the Viper gets to it.
With that being said, I think I can name 20 other Professional Sports Wrestling Entertainment Legends I rank higher than the Legend Killer.

Top 10 for me. A true pro and we wouldn’t have the culturally important “RKO them” memes

I'm a huge fan. but I think he'd struggle to hit the Top 20. Of WWE or of all time. He's never been the absolute top guy of the company. He's never had a mainstream star appeal to become a true household name (more of a Shawn Michaels; known to wrestling fans, than a Hulk Hogan, known to everyone). He's an excellent wrestler, but his style is kind of out-dated. He's won a lot of belts, but titles change hands so much, and there are so many 'world' titles now, that it doesn't mean much. The longevity is amazing, and the memes are an interesting new metric, but his promos are iffy and he's been a part of some dire storytelling. It would be a struggle. He's very good in a lot of categories, but not the best at any of them.

Like I have said before....03-06 Orton was AWESOME....07-09 was good....but 90% of what he did in 10-19 he was Randy BORETon. So he doesn’t crack the top 25 for me. It also doesn’t help him that 2010- present might be the absolute worst time period in the history of wrestling

Obviously a set below Legend Killer Orton (which is in my opinion the greatest gimmick ever) but his Age of Orton run of 2007-2008 was were Orton reached true main event status. His 2009 run was great until Mania 25. Everything after that has been varying levels of good. His average is better than most people's best. Also the entire 2010's sucked, not just for wrestling.

Also I think it should be said that booking has screwed over Randy so many times. If his 2004-05 babyface run would have been successful he would have been bigger than Cena.

He would not make my list at all. He looks like a million bucks, but bell to bell he has phoned it in more than most other main event talents I have seen. People always use the excuse that when he is motivated he is great which I think is a bs way of excusing how boring his matches and angles have been for the majority of his career. His longevity is no doubt amazing and I give him major credit for looking eve better now than he did nearly 20 ywArs ago.
I do not dislike Randy I think he is ok and he has had a few awesome moments I have enjoyed. However, as far as being one of the all time greats? No way I could put him on the same level as people such as Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Steve Austin, Randy Savage and So on

subjective....for me He doesn't make the top 30. But for others I'm sure he's top 10 material. I think a lot of it will be to do with when you started watching & what "your era" is.

I would say top 50 and maybe a little higher but that's it.When your talking about the history of pro wrestling that's nearly a 100 years worth of talent that he's up against.Yes he's going to have a 20+ year in ring career in WWE but like others have stated he's phoned it in in terms of his feuds and match to often and more so at least to me has seemed to have a true lack of chemistry with most of the wrestlers he's faced.Instead of having tons off great to classic matches he's had tons of average matches at best. The only talents he's really gelled with in the ring that have produced multiple great to classic matches against are against Christian,Edge,Foley and that's about it.Had a few one of great matches with Triple H(No Mercy '07),Shawn Michaeals(Survivor Series '07),Luke Harper(Elimination Chamber '17) but not many more that I can think of.
When talking about talents that are at the top of the list and in my eyes clearly better then Orton names that come to mind without even thinking are Austin,Rock,Hogan,Flair,Taker,Bruno,HBK,Hart,Andre,Savage,Edge,Angle,Cena,Batista,Sting,Jericho,Booker T,Piper,Dusty,Funk,Foley...ect
Again not a major knock that he's not a top ten, twenty, twenty five..ect talent but safely in the top fifty

I wouldn't vote him I'm my personal top anything but booking wise he's a 14 time champion so he has some degree of greatness kayfabe wise. Plus a lot of people like his "story telling style" of wrestling .

Top 20 for wrestlers I actually watched during my time watching wrestling (Mid 70’s - now) but All-time top 20 I couldn’t say because Prior to what I actually watched I really have no first hand knowledge of. Definitely better than Edge. I have said this many times in the past that Edge wouldn’t have half his singles championships if they didn’t have the brand splits where each show had to have their own champions. Where I do think Randy would still have had most of his had there not been a roster split.

Going on WWE alone, this would be my "top 20"...I think the first 15 are subjective in what order you put them in. Some would take Austin over Hogan and many others but Id stand pretty firm with my opinion that these would be the top 15....
1)Hulk Hogan 2)Steve Austin 3)Bruno Sammartino 4)John Cena 5)Bret Hart 6)The Undertaker 7)Shawn Michaels 8)The Rock 9)Macho Man 10)Andre The Giant 11)Triple H 12)Brock Lesnar 13)Ultimate Warrior 14)Kurt Angle 15)Ric Flair 16) 17) 18) 19) 20)
I feel like Edge, Randy Orton, Kane, Daniel Bryan, Chris Jericho can be placed in just about any order in the last 5 spots and it would be reasonable.

Unpopular opinion - I would rank some tag teams that had very little singles success higher in any GOAT ranking.

I have a stronger bias for wrestlers who I have lived to see, so for that, I'm putting him in the top 10. I know it's probably a bit of a reach, just because you can easily fill a top ten from the 80's-90's wrestlers, but I think given his tenure, champions reigns, WrestleMania histories, the factions he's been a part of, the feuds and wrestlers he's worked with, and especially his connection to a long history of the business through his "legend killer" gimmick, I think he's at the very least arguably deserving of top 10 status.

It's interesting you say that when Orton got his first world title so early in his career compared to Edge.
