I'd love to listen, but Phil, who hosts that show, formerly of the Chick Foley Show, is a complete chode and garbage human being. He was rightfully fired from the CFS for routinely causing a divide amongst the twitter wrestling figure community and constantly lying. After what was suppose to be an amicable split and Chick thanking him and saying nothing but nice things upon his departure, he refused to relinquish control of the private facebook group forcing Chick to start a new one. He then ripped off her name which she has been using for years, "Un-Boxamania" for his youtube videos, which is not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but was a clear attempt at trolling her and just shows his major character flaw on his part. He also went out of his way to block every single person that was part of the Chick Foley group. This is something I know absolutely nothing about (never listened to their show and only have seen/heard references to it). What is the story behind the lying and creating a divide/firing?

Wow, I had no idea about any of that - I’ve listened to some Chick Foley episodes in the past and enjoyed them, but not got time to follow more than just the Major Pod TBH (and I’m behind on that as well ) so I’m out of the loop with things like that. There’s not a great deal of new stuff in this interview TBH; some slightly worrying comments at the end about maybe not doing a made-to-order type arrangement, but he speaks about everyone getting figures if they want them so no reason to panic yet. There was a very quick reference to a SDCC-type release but I didn’t really get the point he was making there - the fear from collectors of the “chase”-type model and limited numbers of figures runs very deep He did estimate to have about 15 guys signed, with several others being close, which I think is new info. I’d have liked a few more questions about some of the decisions made so far - things like not including the actions (the answer there is obvious, but I’m sure there’s a story there given how close he wants to make them to the Hasbros), a bit more on the cards like if he has access to some professional photos outside of the ownership of WWE or if the art he mentions is going to be specially commissioned drawings to reflect the guy during his run in WWF, WCW, ECW, etc., his thoughts/approach to potentially WWE-owned trademarks and names, etc., - things like that, which I was going to ask him here before he sadly took the decision not to interact with us here anymore. I’m sure we’ll hear more from him though - he’s doing a brilliant job so far with the project, and a masterful job of teasing and marketing the line; part of the reason we all want him to succeed here.

Very good points raised here and I am sure Zonbie for the most part is playing it close to the chest. I have still to check the interview out, but the points you highlighted is what I would seek more clarification on from Zombie also. I am glad to hear he has publicly made the comment that anyone who wants these figures will have an opportunity to get them. I think what will be an issue is that he has some friends who will be pushing him to do limited figures, if he does this it will kill all interest in his line, I think such strategies are happening across to many wrestling figure platforms, Jazwares received a lot of backlash for this and will be adjusting the chases and I know of people tapping out of the AEW line because they would have no hope of completing it. PWT’s is doing the same. So I will see how these go but as soon as I see limited stuff starting (1/100) etc, I will likely get out of this line. I am a huge retro fan and collector so I am grateful for this product.

I am a huge retro fan and collector so I am grateful for this product. That’s my basic position also. I debated collecting the AEW line when it started as it was a chance to get into a major line right from the start, but the minute the chases were announced (especially in the tiny quantities they went with) then that was dead to me because I’m a completist - I want to collect every single figure in a line if I’m going to collect it at all, but having 1/500 of certain figures immediately kills my passion for a line because all that does is fuel the scalper market that is already damaging the passion many have for the hobby. It’s similar to the Classic Superstars in the sense when you have Toy Fair exclusives or Jakks employee 1/100 figures then I’m not interested in having a collection with gaps in it - I want to complete lines, which that sort of scenario makes almost impossible. Hopefully getting into the Zombie line right from the start will allow those of us who aim for complete collections to give him the money directly for the figures rather than eBay resellers down the line who have somehow lucked their way to offering very limited figures - and it seems like Zombie is on that same page. Time will tell of course.

What's the reason for no action? I assume too expensive, and Hasbro still owns the toy design patents for it?

Just the expense, I don't think it has anything to do with Hasbro, or Mattel wouldn't have been able to make the retros. Most of the audience for these are adults, so not much need for it to justify the cost. Although myself, I am getting very itchy to just pick up a bunch of extra Hasbros, Retros and so on just to play with again!

I wasn't really interested in these until I just saw on Twitter that they're doing RnR Express.

Love the custom Macho King you have in your avatar, that would have made a great figure back in the day. Good to see Zombie confirm the RnR Express; I look forward to seeing the designs for them. What's the reason for no action? I assume too expensive, and Hasbro still owns the toy design patents for it? I’d love to hear from Zombie on his thoughts concerning the actions - like drnickriviera995 has highlighted there are plenty of good and sensible reasons not to include them, but at the same time Zombie is going all-out to make these compatible with the Hasbros so I’m sure dropping the actions was a difficult decision for him to make. We already know that the figures are going to be very expensive, so maybe the cost of including the actions isn’t the full story here, but I’m sure that was a factor. I wonder how many mechanisms he’d need to invest in to cover a good number of actions? -The gorilla slam, elbow smash and the Hacksaw smash I’d think would be the same mechanism; -The uppercut like Bret, Smash and Nailz; -The jumper spring - how much of a variation is needed to make the Rocker Dropper? -The clothesline mechanism might work for the Texas Tornado as well (thought IIRC the Tornado Punch spun around further than the basic clothesline); probably quite straightforward to reverse the action to do the chop like Mattel did with Ric Flair; -The punch (both the straight punch and the headlock punch) isn’t actually an internal mechanism as it’s a spring in the actual arm; -The Perfect Plex has the left-arm mechanism - could that be achieved with a modification of the elbow smash mechanism attached to only one arm? I’m sure Zombie looked into all of this before deciding to proceed without the actions, so it would be interesting to hear a bit about it some stage; hopefully an interviewer will bring it up to him in a future promotional interview.

Steve from Mattel said that they secured necessary licenses and cooperation from Hasbro to make the Retros -- back in the QA thread.
It really is too bad; I would be so much more inclined to buy them if they had actions. Without it, it makes it pretty unlikely for me

New images released of Cardona and Myers. Personally not a fan of either guy but more impressed with the detail Zombie is putting in to this line. More looking forward to seeing how the legends turn out.

Cardona looks spot on, but I think Myers face is a bit off. Looks almost like carrot top.

Although Myers‘ headsculpt totally reminds me of Bigfoot, I really like both figures. Somehow I even prefer Myers because the original Hasbros often had a caricature look. It fits the line and the character perfectly. If they somehow manage to keep this standard for production I will buy two of each no matter what character.

Not sure if these will be available in Canada, but I would love to pick up a few of these to display with my Hasbro figures.

Most Hasbro looked cartoony. These look closer to the retros to me.

I feel so mixed on these. On one hand, the detail looks fantastic. On the other hand, they aren’t quite true to that Hasbro cartooniness. It is hard to say what the right answer is.
Looking forward to getting an idea on price and timeline for a release.

I agree with the above. Everyone aid "WAIT FOR THE PROTOS" -- well, we have them. And they are not like the Hasbros, as said above -- plus they lack the Hasbro 'sheen' and the action...
I'd still be open to getting some depending on how they look, but not if they look like these... Sorry to be negative, but the answer is just to shut up and not state your opinion...
