I've recently been watching a lot of old WOS and I have to ask: Why did Vince never want to bring in Haystacks?
I know he had the rip-off version (Haystacks Calhoun) but at 46 stone and 6'11" he was a genuine monster. Why did Vince never bring him in as a monster for Hogan or Undertaker in the early 90s? He was always bringing in attraction performers from all over the world for short runs.
I know Haystacks said at the time that all the American wrestling and WWF was rubbish compared to the proper British stuff, but he also said he'd fight Hulk Hogan if there was interest in the match.

I am from the UK and I have to be honest and say that our wrestling (in my opinion) for the most part was pure garbage. I hated it as a kid, I found it boring and while they would always say that the American stuff was "fake" I always felt that the old British stuff on WOS looked horrible. As a kid I would have had zero interest in this at all.
I know there are many people who love the world of sport era of wrestling, but it sure as hell was not for me.

Haystacks was past his prime in the mid 80’s and was pretty awful, so come the early to mid 90’s he would be of no use.
I’ve never seen the match but by all accounts Loch Ness v The Giant was panned and sounded an awful match.
OP, where do you watch WOS? is there full episodes available online?

Vince has better workers for that size. Andre being the exception because he's Andre, and was a good worker outside his health declining.
Loch Ness was miserably bad

Haystacks was one of UK wrestlings main attractions and WWE already had Andre so leaving WOS would've been a bad decision.

Haystacks was one of UK wrestlings main attractions and WWE already had Andre so leaving WOS would've been a bad decision. But WOS was just a telly programme that showed highlights of wrestling matches from around the country - it wasn't a wrestling promotion with contracted wrestlers, it was just a highlight show. He could have (and regularly did) gone abroad and come back to the exact same deals he had with the local shows.
