I’ve been looking for a moc Akeem for ages for a good price. He’s on eBay for like $750! Was he rare/short packed in this wave or something? I wish Mattel still had rights to him to do another one.

It’s a figure that was produced 10 years ago. That price is still crazy, but there might not be many left MIB that people want to sell.
People will probably say they bought or passed on it for $5 at Kmart. I wasn’t collecting then. So it’s be patient or pay up I guess.

I never even saw that wave in stores. I have one loose with no accessories and a few scratches I found at a flea market for $2.

1. Figure is 10 years old
2. Legends sold horribly when they initially were released so a lot of people missed out and not a lot are in circulation
3. It’s the only figure of Akeem in the Mattel line and odds are slim that another will be made anytime soon
4. It’s a great looking figure
5. Due to covid and people spending more time at home people have invested in their hobbies more which in turn has caused the value of figs to have increased greatly over the past year

He warmed hard in my area at a few Walmarts. I am glad I grabbed a few. I only have 1 with absolute perfect paint on the hat though. Finding the hat with perfect paint on the pegs wasn't easy. It is a great figure though. Top 5 in the Mattel line for sure.

I think it likely often actually sells for less. But it is really just supply and demand given how old the figure is and that he never received another Mattel figure. He, Hillbilly Jim, Rick Martel, King Kong Bundy, and Kevin Von Erich are on my unofficial list of figures I want but still have not obtained since starting to collect Mattel WWE figures back around 2016.

I remember about 10 years ago, i grabbed all the legends that were on Matty Collector. if i remember correctly, it was Andre, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, DDP,and King Kong Bundy
i wish i would have kept them, i had all the legends up until i stopped collecting about 4 years ago. i could have been rich, lol

I regret not buying Bam Bam, but I have the other three in series 5 and I’m glad I do as they’re some of the more expensive OG legends figures. I’m only missing 8 plus Bundy, Arn, & Tully. And Kamala but i have E44 so I don’t need him

I never really liked the shiny yellow material that looked like jersey material. Not sure why they used that material as it did not look right. That was my complaint that led me not to buying it when i saw it In stores back in the day. I regret that now.
