And Jesse would be like''SHUT UP MCMAHON!'' I loved the respect that Jesse clearly had for Gorilla and the contempt he had for Vince. He would never tell Gino to shut up but would bully McMahon all the time. Yet another reason to adore Jesse

I believe there was heavy backstage haggling about this... although Flair, Hogan & Sid all have different versions 😂😂😂 Three of the biggest embellishers in wrestling history right there. I'm a big fan of all three guys, but I take everything they say with a massive pinch of salt. No idea which version of events is true - if any. yup. All you need is the king of all liars Kevin Nash in there and ya would get some stories....LOL

Hulk Hogan was always a heel! He wasn't there to pick up the phone for Paul Orndorff. He never gave Andre the Giant one title match even as a friend. He was lusting after Miss Elizabeth. I mean let's be honest here, Hogan was no saint. Hogan was literally the most popular wrestler in the world, Orndorff was acting like a little baby Andre never asked for it When did making sure your friend wasn't injured become lusting? Why do I feel like if this had been Bret you all would be kissing his feet? (Seriously though, half of these are just taking the heel's side and ignoring the other side).

My comment on this was actually me playing a heel too.
I was a Hulk Hogan fan and everything he did was magic to me as a kid! Ha ha ha

Here’s the commentary from Rumble and the re-recorded commentary at SNME WOW. The contrast between the two - maybe Sid's version of events is true after all.

Here’s the commentary from Rumble and the re-recorded commentary at SNME Never heard the contrast before. What irk’s me more than anything is in the reshoot, Heenan doesn’t sound as enthused as the original. And having him throw in the line about being a smart move by Sid cheapens it. I get it doesn’t take away from the original commentary at the event, but the Brain played it perfectly, then had to change it to suit the Hogan agenda.

Sid 100% got robbed at the Rumble. And if that wasn't bad enough Hogan got named #1 contender right after. It was BOGUS! Yeah but in the end Hogan faced Sid in a crappy match while Randy Savage got the title shot and put up a classic vs Flair! Alls well that ends well right? As a Hogan hater and someone who loves Flair and Savage 1992 must have been one of your favorite years in wrestling?

There’s no way they were gonna recapture Brain’s genuine excitement over Flair winning. His performance at commentary that night is what made Flair’s moment even that much more special. I wouldn’t say they were phoning it in with the edited commentary but you can tell that neither Gorilla or Heenan were as invested.

Bad booking and not understanding the audience was changing. It was supposed to look as though Sid snuck up behind Hogan and eliminated him in a sneaky way, but it didn't look that way. It looked like Sid was doing the right thing and eliminating someone. The thing that made Hogan look weak/heel was him grabbing Sid's arm and helping Flair win, had they just had Hogan and Sid arguing with each other and Flair take the advantage and eliminate Sid from behind on his own, Hogan probably wouldn't have been booed. They thought that just because Sid threw Hogan out from behind that the fans would automatically boo Sid, but the fans didn't. In the past, that probably would have worked, because anytime anyone did anything to Hogan (or against Hogan) the fans automatically booed them and cheered Hogan. But the fans were changing, you could see at the end of 1991 Hogan wasn't getting cheered as much as he had been, even in the match with the Undertaker, he was already getting boos. Had Sid eliminated Hogan like he did, then have them argue with Flair eliminating Sid from behind on his own, then after the match have Hogan and Sid arguing some more, then do the heel turn on Hogan at SNME, it would have looked better. But the way they did it made Hogan look horrible.

I think that they had 2 matches they had to make and were also testing waters for 1) Heel Hogan 2) Flair as champ 3) Sid as a face 4) Hogan vs Flair
And they got cold feet and didn’t have a good plan so they separated Hogan and Flair and kinda just kept on with the Hogan must pose mindset

To suit the Vince agenda you mean....Hogan was going. Sid wanted to turn heel... Yeah that’s a better way of putting it right enough. When you think about it? This time period must've been a nightmare for Vince. He starts 1992 with several hot storylines...RR92 for the title with lots of talent to play with & matches the fans are salivating for. Then.... Hogan announces He's leaving indefinitely after WM8. torpedoes the ME & offers some serious headaches. Hawk fails a drug test and now must be suspended because of everything else going on. this removes ones of Vince's tag champs & biggest most over acts/merch movers from WM. Another headache. Jake Roberts & Vince negotiations are breaking down...Roberts pivotal in RTWM but its starting to look less & less manageable Sid becomes difficult...starts moaning loudly about turning heel because there are "more opportunities at the top of the card to make $$$" Undertaker who is Vince's carefully crafted/protected mega heel is getting cheered like crazy. Vince does not want to turn him...but the crowd reactions are becoming impossible to ignore (source Paul Bearer shoot) must've been a nightmare because all this is happening at the same time virtually. Man oh man...when you think of what WM8 COULD have been...oh boy.
