Anybody else surprised that Jeff has been utilized as a mid carder who frequently loses? I mean the WWE relies heavily on nostalgia and the guy was a huge star at one point, has moved a ton of merch, and he's only in his early 40s.
Is this something that might turnaround if he shows management consistently? Or has his star power greatly diminished, much like the Warrior in 1996?

I would imagine he’s a tough guy to book. He can sometimes be unreliable and also the fact that he’s 40+ and has spent a career jumping off of 20’ ladders.

Jeff is the type of guy that easily fits anywhere on the card, so there’s value in having him give a rub to the rising talent. Jeff hasn’t lost star power, he’s just used to boost the profile of others. Rey is very similar to Jeff in that way.

Well most of the roster is under 40, and I’m often hearing it’s a crime against humanity for an older wrestler to beat a younger wrestler. So by that token, Jeff should never be beating guys who are in their 20s and 30s anyway.
But in all seriousness, he’s a great utility guy. He’s believable to win OR to lose against pretty much anyone on the card. McIntyre, Keith Lee, Sheamus and Riddle are getting a lot of focus at the moment on the Raw babyface side, with Jeff playing his part to help other storylines along. He’s already a made man, and the newer wrestlers need to get that focus, but he can be put back in a top spot anytime they need to. I could see Jeff feuding with Reigns on SmackDown in that Survivor Series to Royal Rumble corridor like Owens has this year.

I definitely feel like a switch can be flipped and Hardy wouldn’t look out of place back on the top of the card if he were to move back up there. I feel like this is sort of a down period where he just works with some different guys around the card.

Jeff's just talented.
Fantastic Tag Team wrestler; Fantastic to work Mid Card program or main event program. And he can rotate out of these roles; personally I would love to see Jeff get one more run at the top. Even if it's just 3 month reign

I think it's just amazing that in 2021 Jeff Hardy is still putting on quality matches and can be considered as viable for main event work. the guy was doing stuff to himself 20 years ago that most thought would inevitably shorten his career
he's truly one of a kind.

I feel like this is sort of a down period where he just works with some different guys around the card. Exactly, if they threw him back on Smackdown, I wouldn’t mind him at all feuding with Roman. It would be a believable feud, and we wouldn’t get Roman vs KO for the 5,000th time. I feel like right now RAW is kind of too heavy and Smackdown has like zero depth in the main event scene. Most weeks, the IC title crew is carrying the show. |

Given how past older wrestlers such as Jeff's brother Matt have been positioned im modern times by WWE, I am surprised Jeff isn't in the same boat. Not that he should be by any means but still surprising.

I'm still very sad they didn't actually run with Ricochet and Cedric Alexander as a tag team long term, that was a great combination that could have gone a long way. Jeff would be a fine alternative. Ricochet is one of the most talented in ring guys in the entire company, but god help him he can't do a promo to save his life. He needs some help in that department, Jeff would work well. |

He doesn't even wear his face paint anymore either. Jeff still has so much to give and is a joy to watch every week. He's also a merch machine and puts on great matches so he deserves a higher spot on the card.

Man I enjoy Jeff's work but he's such a flight risk when it comes to pushing him, you don't want a champion on your brand involved in another drugs bust or DUI.
Luckly, so far, he's only caused himself grief but imagine if he crashed and killed someone that's not a good colour for WWE to wear, especially as he's got a history they can't play the
"oh it's so out of character for him" card

Who even knows if Jeff wants to be in a big spot anymore. Maybe he isn’t up for the responsiblilty after his struggles to stay clean, and he isn’t even in a bad spot, he lost to Lashley a bunch but Lashley was arguably the most protected guy of the last year but it’s rumble time he just isn’t doing anything except being in the rumble.

Jeff is much like Rey, as someone else has said. They both can lose and they are not hindered by it at all now. They've done their time and made themselves over in the past that they dont need to win a whole lot. Then at the same time, if either ended up as a world title contender you wouldn't be surprised. They would slot in against drew or roman right now and it wouldn't feel out of place. Orton is another example although he has had a better 2020 than previous years, he has lost quite a bit too.

I still dont understand how he ever got past mid card in the first place. Outside of a gimmick match where he could jump off something, he never did anything for me.

I too find it annoying that it’s some kind of sacrilege for an older guy to beat a younger guy. I think Jeff deserves a top-tier storyline. I doubt he gets it though because they are going to job him the  out for the rest of his contract to devalue him as much as possible before he inevitably heads to AEW. I am aware that he signed an extension late last year but I think it’s the last one. I love you. |
