If he's not under a deal, I'd be shocked if Jazwares wouldn't scoop him up. My biggest fear is that he's signed, but Mattel won't make him. It's been implied in the past that they wouldn't make people like Crash Holly and Brian Christopher who died by suicide. I didn't realise Crash died of suicide, I always thought it was an accidental death. How sad... |

It's possible that they're no longer signed. But Kerry had some Topps cards last year, which go through the Legends program. I've wondered if he might be on the no-fly list for Mattel given how he died and Mattel's corporate values.
They released 2 figures of him in the original legends line- why wasn't there any issue then but there is one now presumably?!
I think this is another instance of Mattel dragging their feet and not releasing a figure of a legend while they are signed. Billy Graham has been under a deal for years but only recently did they finally make a figure of him- now that his deal is about to expire. There was a Texas Tornado figure rumoured for the Hall of Champions line a few years back but it never materialized likely because the line got cancelled. If he is still signed then, then hopefully they get a move on and find a spot for him before the deal expires as I think Jazwares will definitely scoop up the rights to the Von Erichs if they are available.

It's just odd - Kerry was in as a placeholder for the HoF line, and there was a rumor and leaked sample that that could have made sense in HoC. And then...nothing. But that was a few years back, and he just had a card released last year. So I don't think it's as simple as his deal expiring. We've seen conflicting statements on Mattel's "corporate values" before. We were told straight up at various times that Mattel would never make Luger, Hall, and Chyna at various points because of incidents they were involved in, and then all 3 got made. I could totally see it cut the other way where they had Kerry ready to go, some corporate suit Googled his name, and suddenly it was off limits. I'd love to be wrong. I don't have a Kerry, and he was one of my favorites. But the way things have played out make me think it may not be as cut and dry as he just isn't signed to a deal. Usually when it's just a contract matter, Steve's response is the stock "we'd love to make him if he were available to us." |

I'd love it if they finally made David Von Erich, too. A new Tornado and a Kevin with a new headsculpt would be awesome, too!

First I would love more Von Erich’s. They are wrestlers I would buy every version of. As for this topic I would think it’s nothing more than their contract is up and the WWE doesn’t want to resign them at this time. They were some of the first Legends figures Mattel showed that were supposed to be part of the Legends 2-Packs. But ended up being released as part of Legends Series 6. So Mattel clearly has no issues making 2 Kerry figures back then.
Just because there were rumors of people saying he was part of an upcoming set didn’t make it true. Personally I didn’t believe it. The so called “leaked proto” looked like a custom that many people on this board has made when Series 6 was released.
Also I don’t remember for certain but didn’t Kevin mistakenly say something that people deemed insensitive or offensive during a HOF speech?
