People keep missing the point. Wight and Khan have both said a Hall of Fame worthy guy. Angle is already in the hall of fame. Christian would fit the bill but he reportedly signed a new deal before the Royal Rumble. My gut is telling me it is going to be a disappointment no matter who it is. But the wrestling world would be turned upside down if it actually turned out to be Brock. But I doubt it would be Brock since the guy will be signing a multi year deal. Christian hasn't signed anything with WWE. Wrestlinginc and Mike Johnson are both saying Christian signed a new deal before the rumble

Christian hasn't signed anything with WWE. Wrestlinginc and Mike Johnson are both saying Christian signed a new deal before the rumble Meltzer said he doesn't have a WWE contract, so we don't really have a consensus.

Man, AEW haven't let us down when they announce something "big" it's usually pretty damn memorable. But Dixie/TNA's big surprises have given me ptsd when it's comes to surprises in wrestling... really can't think of anyone that would draw me in to watch.
Mark Henry I've seen him over the last few weeks online saying he WILL wrestle again this year, if he in the HOF? Can he really bring anything to the table in AEW other than as a trainer?
Kurt Angle Man he looked rough in his last run I had no trouble with the idea that Corbyn could go over him. His knees are permanently bent. But I can see why he would like to go out facing a top tier star.
Brock Lesnar I can't imagine the type of deal AEW would have to lay down for him to agree. He's got mega bucks with WWE for 5 matches a year, if that, hes a draw but I don't know if the value is there for a start up company.
RVD I like Van Dam, he's HOF worthy. Wouldn't hate seeing him back on TV would rather him without his wives (?)
CM Punk It would be great to have him back on TV as a rassler, and I think he would go to AEW before WWE, but I just don't think it's him.
Kota Ibushi I don't know much about NJPW but I hear he isn't on their upcoming card(?) he's friends with Omega and he's sought after in the US. But would that make sense when they're working towards some kinda AEW vs NJPW angle.

There's something to be said for the fact that we're assuming he was referring to the WWE Hall of Fame. Thought entered my mind when I considered Ken shamrock, who isn't in the WWE Hall of Fame and would qualify there, but is in the impact Hall of Fame. Not that I think they would be referring to being impact hof worthy, but rather the wrestling observer Hall of Fame. I don't know that hof list but maybe it opens up names that are in the WWE Hall of Fame. Khan is a Meltzer guy so I really wouldn't be that surprised.

I said this in the Dynamite thread, but this seems to be the place. I expect it to be Angle or Christian. Neither would be particularly great additions in my opinion. Christian isn’t a main eventer in my eyes. He’d be a Hall of Famer in the vein of Nikolai Volkoff - a big name that ultimately makes no difference. Angle is the greatest of all time in my eyes, but he doesn’t have it anymore in the ring, and even as an authority figure he’s better as a heel.
I love AEW, but I don’t see any logical people who it could be that would really be a great asset. Obviously Cena, Taker, Rock, Brock, or Punk would be insanely huge, but Punk already said it wasn’t him, and I don’t think there’s any chance in hell that it could be any of those other guys aside from maybe Brock, since he follows the money. I still don’t see that happening.
I’d be more excited for guys like Ricochet, Aleister Black, or Andrade and Thea than another icon who can’t wrestle or aging upper mid-carder presented as a main eventer. I hope I’m wrong, but if I’m not they really need to slow down on the signings.

Top TierJohn Cena Brock Lesnar CM Punk Rock "The Dwayne" Johnson Batista HOF LevelKurt Angle Christian Chris Hero Lita HOF Level but past their primeRVD Scott Steiner Goldberg Mick Foley Crowd would boo because they're not a big dealEthan Page Sami Callihan Wild CardOkada a retired athlete VKM I would boo Callihan but it doesn't have anything to do with how big of a name he is,please keep him away from AEW I think I dislike like him more every time he's on my screen. Now since that's out of the way I think my money would be on Kurt or RVD but for my long shot ill go with Batista

Regardless of which HOF we're talking about, Angle is in at least six of them, so if we're taking "worthy" at face value as in "not IN a HOF", then it's probably not going to be him.
Also, some of the names people have been posting are also already in as well, like Foley, Goldberg, Lita, and Batista (technically).
I can't think of anyone earth-shattering except for Cena, Rock, or Lesnar, and I can't really see it being any of those three.

For the ladder match, realistically, I'm going to say Chris Hero.
For the major signing, I'm going to go a bit unrealistic, seeing as he might still be under a contract; but I think of "Hall of Fame worthy major star", and I think of Brian Danielson. I think that would be a Luger/Rude-on-Nitro-level shocker. Realistically, though, I haven't a clue who it could be, but I have a sinking feeling the name could be a letdown.

The 90 day no-compete clause still stands for all talent doesn't it? Keep seeing guys names come up that were on raw or smackdown last week.....
How's about Chavo Guerrero? Vickie has worked for AEW, Chavo certainly knows his was around the business enough to make him hof worthy.
When was Rey mysterio on TV last? And what's his contract status, I don't recall reading anything about him signing a contract back a few months ago the whole murphy/mysterio kid love angle was scrapped because of contract discussions..

RVD is a very logical guess for being someone who is “HOF worthy” and is still working in the business with no kind of ties to WWE that would interfere in anything. Wouldn’t be earth shattering by any means but he fits the bill.
With the assumption that this person isn’t in a HOF, namely WWE HOF, I’m ruling out numerous people. But hypothetically let’s say it’s Kurt Angle. Is he coming to wrestle? Can he wrestle? Would I even want to see him wrestle anymore? I don’t think it’s Kurt Angle.
If the money was enough, I could see it being Brock Lesnar. I’d set the odds extremely low, but I’m not completely ruling it out. I’m ruling out CM Punk. I’ve always said I’ll believe it when I see it. Haven’t seen it yet, so I’m not believing it. Okada would be mind blowing, but they said this talent will be put under contract. He has a contract in Japan. Sure, they could work something out, but seems wildly unlikely to me.
Does the fact that Big Show said “Evolution” instead of “Revolution” mean anything? The results recap on their website put in a quote of what he said. Maybe they’re just poking fun at him messing up but they put EVOLUTION in all caps. I suppose the quote would technically be wrong if they wrote Revolution, but just throwing it out there. Batista? But it goes against the already in HOF theory. He’s too busy in Hollywood to do wrestling anyway.
Ultimately, I have no clue. I want it to blow my mind, but I don’t think it will. And I’ll be mildly disappointed. My guess is RVD.

Punk denied it's him. Maybe it's Ronda rousey, but she's already in the UFC hall of fame.

RVD has sh** on the AEW product several times and the Bucks themselves about how small everyone is. Don’t think it would be him.
No one with any sense would ever call Callihan HOF worthy.
I’m thinking Angle could be very likely but again, he can’t physically work anymore right?

See, I think it might just be Wight. He said "Hall of Fame worthy" and a "Huge, Huge star". He is definitely HOF worthy. And he is a Huge (Giant) Huge (Well-known) star. I hope I'm wrong - and selfishly, I want Angle because he's the GOAT and I want more figures of him.

Personally I don't think TK would ever sign off on doing that as an angle.

Dropping a few names: - Kane - Adam Cole (unlikely, but just imagine) - Daniel Bryan (unlikely) - Switchblade - Lars Sullivan (with Wight as manager).
My money is on Switchblade.
