The kurt teaser scares me, but i dont know why he would spoil the debut with it either. One thing is for sure. Everyone is talking about the surprise signing and surely someone will be let down by the reveal lol. I hope its punk, but if be ok with Christian. Anyone else i can think of currently doesnt fit the tease and would only be a bummer if they were revealed.

Kurt looked bad during his last wwe run. There’s no way he’s physically capable of wrestling I dunno. Before that WWE run he had some really fun indie matches. If he signs, I'll give it a shot. But yeah...I'm not thrilled if it's him.

I dont know who it will be, but I know who I dont want it to be. No matter what, it will backfire on aew unless it's Bork (dont want) or Punk.
Angle made me feel bad for him last time around.
Never a fan of Christian. Liked The Brood, but him and Edge on own I couldn't stand. I always laugh about the ugly thing about Christian. But they push the even uglier Edge. Who could have played Skeletor with that ugly mug.

Love Kurt. In my top 10 of all time. No way I want to see him try and work in 2021.

No matter who, I bet I could retread my post about Wight: weariness to cautious optimism from true fans, trollbait for the trolls.

But yeah...I'm not thrilled if it's him. I remember Kurt saying in an interview that basically once he signed with WWE and they held him out of the ring for so long, his body basically stiffened up. He felt like if he had kept wrestling, he could have maintained that level. But the GM stint really changed everything and his body lost a ton of mobility. If it were him, I'd be curious what a few year of recovery might mean. But he's still 52.

Brock is the only one who would really make an impact (no pun intended). Punk would be nice of course but I don't think it's gonna happen without fans in the building and without them really being in a duelling warfare with Vince.

Kurt just needs to repeat his match with Cody they had in like 2016 and then retire in peace

Kurt is my all-time favourite - but his last few matches were difficult to watch. The guy went hard and fast his entire career, and it caught up to him.
It still irks me that his last match was against Corbin though, so I don't know what I want him to do at this point.

It's got to be one of three guys Brock, Cena or Punk. If Kurt or Christian or any other TNA guy trots out there tom night then AEW will never recover and the transition to Jacksonville Dixie will be complete.

At the end of the day, AEW will continue to succeed because they have their built in fan base. It would take them a lot to get to late WCW levels of bad. I don’t think whoever it will be will live up to the hype but I don’t think it’ll be bad. It’s hilarious to me that they somehow convinced some people that Brock is even a possibility.

If AEW signed Kurt to wrestle, then that would pretty much guarantee that they are allowing him to pill up again which would only add to their current PR issue of being unsafe to their workers. Christian is probably more likely at this point, but even then what left can they get from Christian aside from a few matches? TNA signing Sting, Kurt, and Christian was fantastic 15 years ago, if AEW replicates that now it's going to look pathetic. At this point I kinda just want to say it and give them Brock for 6 months to work a few matches putting over Kenny, Moxley, and some up-and-comer (realistically they'd just have Cody go over tho). That decision would live up to the hype and please everyone. WWE fans would be glad he's gone, AEW fans will love whoever the signing is because it's AEW, casual fans will want to see Lesnar. It's a win-win-win

I'll go as far as to say I'm 99% sure it's not Angle. Not saying Angle may never show up for a retirement match or do work backstage, etc. I don't think this signing is him though. The more the guys tease little clues, the less it seems like Angle is even a possibility.
I'm very much expecting Christian. Personally I think that'd be a pretty good choice. He gets a retirement run, and can do a lot of mentorship with the Elevation crew, etc. If it's not Christian I legitimately have zero idea and will be completely surprised. Even if it's someone else suggested in this thread.
I will always laugh at "lolTNA" jokes, because they hit the point of being so ignorant its laughable.

It seems super weird that Big Show's debut was just him hyping another debut, unless THAT debut is a much bigger deal than him. Which basically leaves Lesnar, Goldberg, Cena, Undertaker, Batista or Punk. Then there are names that are a smaller deal than Big Show but maybe not to the AEW fanbase - Christian, Angle, RVD, Styles, Samoa Joe.
It probably can't be any of the above though, because it's WrestleMania season and we aren't gonna be able to REEEEEE about Edge's age and part-time status while cheerleading the push of any of those guys.
Ah who am I kidding, hypocrisy has never been a sin. We can still REEEEE about old guys while supporting old guys. My prediction is the 41-year-old Shinsuke Nakamura.

So legit people are saying it may be Pat McAfee now. I’m not saying I do, but it would make Wights comment about Hall of Fame worth technically correct, cause honestly he was one of the greatest NFL punters in the games history. I don’t think it’s him because his dream was WWE but it is something people were putting out there.

If they're suggesting McAfee they aren't paying attention to anything that's been said about this person. Edit: Now, McAfee could be the guy in the ladder match, and that actually would be fun.

Outside the box; Paul Wright is who announced it. Paul Wright is going to be a commentator. Joey Styles is apparently returning to wrestling. Joey Styles will be Paul Wright's broadcast partner on Elevation.

It won't be Joey. It's for sure a wrestler. Though again, nothing stopping from Joey showing up at some point anyways.
