Leading up to Wrestlemania 26 was absolute garbage. There’s no topping how bad that build up was besides HBK vs Undertaker which also wasn’t even that great

I cannot believe how poor the build to WrestleMania 31 was, especially considering what a home run the actual event ended up being.

WM 31 speaks on it's on.
Cena/Batista I feel like had a good build? But; I don't remember it. But; WM 26. WM 27's was pretty rough around the edges. WM 25's build up felt like very thrown together card. Orton-HHH was excellent build up.
WM 28 neglected everything outside of the HIC/Rock-Cena. WM 29. There's been a couple.

WM 26 had Jericho vs Edge which had almost a year of build behind it, Undertaker vs HBK 2 which had an amazing build, Cena vs Batista which had been building since 2005 over who the true face of the company was, Bret vs Vince which despite the match sucking stemmed from one of the biggest real life feuds in wrestling history. Amazing build, for a decent show WM 25 had Triple H vs Orton in an amazing build with seeds planted from 2003, Matt trying to murder Jeff out of jealousy, HBK wanting to prove he was still the showstoppers after a real bad year kayfabe wise by challenging the real Mr Wrestlemania, and Jericho talking down to washed up legends and Mickey Rourke. Pretty damn solid. WM 28 had Rock vs Cena obviously, Undertaker vs Triple H that had three years of build starting with HBK and Taker, and Jericho returning to challenge Punk for the title and “Best In The World” moniker. Three huge matches with great build. WM 29 had Cena vs Rock the rematch which was another good build though the match was flat and could have used Punk, Punk vs Undertaker which was so good with the story of Punk disrespecting the memory of Bearer, and even Triple H coming for revenge against Brock. The Mania sucked outside Punk/Taker but the build was pretty decent. WM 31 had the hype around Sting having his first match and taking down The Authority, Bray single handily selling a big clash with a broken Undertaker, Orton seeking revenge on Seth for taking his spot. Sure the build for Brock vs Roman wasn’t great but a lot of that is because people were throwing a fit that Roman was getting the push instead of Ambrose or Bryan. Not the best build but definitely not the worst.

Other than Rock vs Hogan, x8 was pretty bad. All the matches just felt thrown together at random, or just bad choices altogether. Triple H chasing the belt as a face?? Bleh. Steve Austin going from the main event to feuding with Scott Hall in the undercard? Lame. Booker T and Edge feuding over a shampoo commercial? Cheezus. This Mania actually turned me off of wrestling altogether for a good chunk of 2002. Luckily they made up for it the next year with 19, arguably the best Mania of all time.

Not the best build but definitely not the worst. Bret and Vince was built well; and I mentioned I liked Cena/Batista's build. Edge/Jericho fell flat in the build it should of been more. It lacked some level of itensity. Sting-HHH was a fine build; until It became unclear of Sting's intentions a old WCW warhorse or to destroy the Authority. Sting came off unclear. Jericho-Punk's WM 28 build was odd; I thought Extreme Rules 2012 build hit it right.
