The absolute best thing I have ever seen at a Hall of Fame was in San Jose for 31 when they had pictures of Scott Steiner at every entrance and told them to not let him in.

If this thread is an airing of grievances about the HOF, let me say I do hope a redirection in format is in order.
Unthinkable to believe the audience is forever gone from it because $$. Public crowds have worn out their welcome since 2006 but they gotta make some dough.
Just from 2019, a lot to unpack. HATED the staging and how today's talent were on hard cam. Didn't care for how they promoted DX. No other year did they explicitly advertise one act above the rest. Jerry's puns and one-liners from years past were cringe but the two-person duties didn't play that well either. Need someone to sell it with some dignity, shame that Renee would have been great on her own.

Fans ruin the hall of fame. Yelling, chanting, making a scene.....it’s annoying and disrespectful. Imagine at the Oscars, Tom Hanks is giving a speech and people started WHATing him or yelling ONE MORE MOVIE! That guy attacking Bret Hart a few years ago was the last straw. Fans are the worst part of wrestling in general because too many of them don’t know how to behave. I wish they would keep the Thunderdome forever even after COVID is over. With people having been quarantined for the better part of a year, I’m sure they will be on their WORST behavior once they start going places again. Fans are the worst part of wrestling? That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! True. Without fans we aren't having this discussion here today.

However like every year since 2004 there’s been HOF inductees that were promoted/advertised more than the others. Hogan/Piper in ‘05, Bret/Eddie in ‘06, Ric Flair in ‘08, Austin in ‘09, HBK in ‘11, etc...

It’s a shame that people can’t be there to appreciate because the energy of a live crowd is what these performers ultimately feed off of the most. I’d be ok with it just being the appearance at mania and keeping the HOF just for colleagues family and friends.
However, the biggest travesty this year is not having inductors and instead relying on 2 minute packages to ‘sell’ the inductee. The WWE are gutless and clearly prioritizes it’s own personal gain at the expense of appreciation shown for the talent being inducted. What a slap in the face to have had a career and put your efforts in only to reach this stage and have your induction tarnished in all the ways previous inductees never had to endure. It’s such a disgrace. They should’ve skipped the ceremony if they couldn’t do justice to the performers because it’s just poor taste. So much for showing respect and gratitude.

I've been to two WWE Hall of Fame ceremonies and think it is an event more enjoyable to watch at home. If you think the fans can be annoying on TV, they are even worse live.
For the 2013 ceremony during Bob Backlund's speech, this one guy literally wouldn't stop yelling. He was a few rows across from me and obvious wanted the attention. He even started a "boring" chant. I got up and screamed across the aisle telling him to shut his mouth because he was ruining the show for us. Not a tough guy at all, but I was done with this dick trying to get himself noticed at an event like this.
The Bret incident from a few years ago further proved it is not a good environment for a live audience. They do it for the money obviously. The biggest part that sucks the most is that a good majority of the people who attend are respectful and just want to honor that class and hear some good stories. As the saying goes though it only takes a few idiots to ruin it for everyone.

So this years format is video inductions and very short actual speeches. If they skipped a year they wouldn't have to be inducting so many people at once. Hopefully next years format is a mix of a large number of attendees in terms of all WWE staff, some friends, family, past talent, no fans and long speeches.

I never understood why people would want to go to the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony or even watch it on tv.
Not knocking anyone who does, enjoy what you enjoy.

WrestleMania weekend is horrible for that - its guaranteed there will be drunk people with no social skills, leaving mom’s basement for the only time all year to try and get themselves over on Twitter by ruining the show. Hall of Fame is the worst event for it too, because it’s slower and everyone else is more quiet/respectful than they are during a wrestling match. I really wish it’d just be done in a crowd of wrestlers and their families/guests.

I think this pandemic has shown us how valuable fans are in arenas for wrestling shows - my fondest memories of wrestling involved how lit fans were back in the day - no question.
But fans do not belong at the HOF. It is a ceremony for people currently in the industry to honouor those who came before and paved the way - that's what it must be about. I know fans were included as a simple cash grab, an extra night of ticket sales to pad the gates, but it has come at the cost of destroying what would be just a true/respectable ceremony. Inductees no matter if it is koko b. ware have earned and deserve their moment to be respected by their peers.

Its like a watered down shoot interview. I do hate the chanting an crap from the fans. Even though last night's was hard to watch because the layout, it ran smooth and didn't take up a lot of time like most do.

Decided to include them in my binge because I wouldn't watch them otherwise. Mostly enjoy the inductees, hosts can be annoying at times (especially in later years). Good break in between the shows, because wall-to-wall wrestling like that would burn me out in no time.
